They don't wanna get straight to the November election.
New numbers from the -- -- tracking poll released just seconds ago show Mitt Romney gets 47.
The president 45.
Scott Rasmussen from Rasmussen Reports joins us now.
This runs counter to all of the all the polls that I have seen they say a the president has made it to three point lead you say it's -- That is that because you have a a poll that tracks likely voters and most others have registered voters.
Well Gallup right now is doing registered voters and they -- as of yesterday showed the president.
Up by three points and yes if they shifted the likely voters are numbers will be just about the same as ours.
Also there were a large number of likely voter polls conducted last week right after the Democratic Convention.
The show the president up three to five point we showed the president up five right after the convention he had a nice balance but the balance is gone how can you explain.
There was a difference in the policy and is you buses most of the people that.
I think explained what that I I think look I think is if you look at these other firms polled during this week their numbers will show the balances and that is well okay I had in a -- just adroit timing matter if this happens a lot -- you -- right after a big event something changes and then given we can things.
Shift back and so Scott just out this Monday morning seconds ago -- show Mitt Romney two points ahead.
This poll was taken after the mideast developments had unfolded so with that the mideast is fully in this poll correct.
That is currently east mideast developments to date are fully in this poll and right now.
48% of voters trust.
-- -- more than Romney 45%.
Trust Romney more in terms of handling the Middle East unaffiliated voters -- lean a little bit in Romney's direction.
Pretty even split.
You're mentioning the democrats' convention just a moment ago.
What you've got a poll.
All of Romney vs Obama in North Carolina after the conventional in the state itself look at that they're from his way out front.
That's it -- six points is is a comfortable lead but it's not way out front up North Carolina is a state that I don't think is going to be.
On the president's list as we go into the final weeks of the campaign it's a state -- -- barely won four years ago he's trailing in this time.
The bigger states places like Ohio Virginia.
And Florida.
Romney absolutely.
Has to win Ohio and Florida and right now we've got the president up -- point or so each of those state.
Okay but the news this morning is that -- national tracking poll shows Mitt Romney two points ahead.
That's just breaking as we speak lost most other polls show -- the other way around very interesting so we're very glad you could join us this morning thank you so.
Thanks there were.
