Our next guest says the Obama election was supposed to herald and an era of a post racial America.
In his new book that details how the opposite has -- the result.
Joining us now former special advisor to president George W.
Bush Ron Christie.
-- -- -- author of the new book black words how black leadership is returning America to the days of separate.
But equal good to have you with this as -- congratulations on the -- and in and this is your your first television interview I'll let let's get to what I mean is.
Post racial became sort of the either the watch word.
Of the the the Obama.
Administration before he even took him before the president of their office.
How did we get here.
It's it's a really sad state of fares low but this is supposed to be the post racial era of Obama we're gonna Harold and a new there were -- in America.
And then within the first month we have the attorney general the United States tell us that we are a nation of cowards on race.
That we have a present United States a few months later say that the Cambridge police officers had acted stupidly.
And arresting Henry Louis Gates that's one without benefit of any kind of any knowledge yes -- tell.
And there was one thing after another that I've noticed that the allies the president had said.
If you oppose the stimulus you're racist you're against Obama care and Health Care Reform -- racist because you don't want the president to succeed because he's black.
And in writing this book I said now this is not what we're supposed to have heralded in here this is not the America that we're looking for.
We should truly be -- post -- in the fact that we should.
Take diversity and the strength of our passport is American citizens and saying.
That's what this country's all about -- in this cult of ethnicity that I think we've descended into with the election of Obama.
And it it it was it was resident.
Obviously before his election I mean -- do as you point out.
The Congressional.
Black Caucus the -- double -- These are organizations devoted.
Two to the perpetual we should.
Ethnic identity and the quote and quote interest.
I what I struggle with -- -- are those interest in any different than everyone else's interest and why aren't they combined isn't that.
What he -- -- is supposed to be all about.
That's exactly right and in fact I devoted an entire chapter to the Congressional Black Caucus and I think they're days have come should should come to an -- They were -- to be the conscience of the congress and sadly when you had Harold Ford junior who retired from congress in 2000 sex.
His replacement Stephen Cohen a Caucasian gentleman who was gonna run represented -- 60% white districts said.
-- 60% America just said.
If I win I wanna be in the Congressional Black Caucus because 60% of my constituents are African American I wanna learn what some of their issues are.
And he was told for over 200 years we've had essentially the congressional white caucus in congress and you're not allowed to join.
You're not invited and please don't come.
That's its extraordinary.
And and we also have all of these other issues -- voter identification.
If you want to have and -- integrity.
Electoral process for require voter identification of you're being problem -- called a racist.
But each state that -- is doing so is being challenged by the Justice Department on the basis of discrimination against.
Minorities pure insanity you know I went down of the Urban League national conference of -- about a month ago.
And they had a panel specifically dealing with voter ID and person after person got their -- said.
They're trying to disenfranchise us they're trying to reinstitute the poll tax the trying to -- -- folks down and I said.
This is absolutely.
Race neutral on its application.
Doesn't care report his character why doesn't care for black.
But the state has the ability to maintain the integrity of their voter rolls and unfortunately people are using this to get out the vote.
To whip up the African American base and to go -- vote for Obama.
But the -- in this country in the process by caught by calling -- racist when there's no racism there.
Or if I may whipping up the -- -- the talk about.
The black vote -- mean it's basically.
The baseline for.
-- Romney bowed by African Americans that looks like it will be about 0%.
That's that's about right and what is it telling you to me when you have 96%.
Of African Americans -- cast their ballot for President Obama.
If you had 96% of whites who cast their ballot for Republican we hear -- that's racist but somehow it's fine if you're black to do for an African American president.
I heard an interesting comment.
In in asking about asking an African American about.
Well why he was voting now for.
President Obama because -- block and it's a matter of identification.
Using.
Which is an answer that could be you proffered by anyone of any ethnicity of any race toward any candidate.
Either way it's and it turns Martin Luther King on his dream.
On its on its head and I saw many buttons down in Charlotte that said vote black you can never go back.
And again you have people delegates people who in the Democratic Party saying you have to -- form based on the color of his skin -- in the continent -- characters political ideas.
We are headed in the wrong direction -- and I'm very concerned.
We are more racially insensitive towards each other as Americans do to this administration.
Ron Christie the new book.
Black words how black leadership is returning America to the days of separate but equal.
Let's make it.
Assured that that doesn't happen Ron Christie thanks so much -- should go look good luck with the -- it's true.
