Would say get your head screwed on straight path to race for the championship do you get what he did.
Well I mean a lot of it depends on how prepared I and is an individual -- the team in.
We feel like is a whole were as good as we've been in in quite some time even through some or later championship years so.
-- we have a lot of confidence in that.
But at the same time.
You know in sports anything can well happen -- we know that the ten races in the chase him really tough.
And we just have to take on each event as it comes in.
The first -- challenges this weekend in Chicago but spending very racetrack for team in that style of race track -- -- very fast so.
Leading into that I have as few of butterflies as you can you know ask for but I know once we get their -- finals -- -- In the -- as a -- data -- I find that before getting the cars the worst time so.
Once the helmets on -- get in the car maybe get a few lots and in my -- at that -- -- reacting in driving in doing my job that you know I've I love and know so well.
It's the time out of the -- in my mind can think about things that gets me.
Seven years ago how is today different for you mentally.
Emotionally and professionally than it was when you were -- and for your first championship.
-- a -- change to mean professionally and personally.
This she can -- -- experience comes with that I even even down times and not winning last year was very helpful and very learning experience for myself and team.
-- -- -- how well the I feel that I learned more in in down times and I do when things are going right you know when you're doing well it was patent on the back in.
You don't look is -- issue you probably should torque on things that after failure not -- which one you.
You know I always look deeper -- the -- in and learn from -- What about this year you've got all for Hendrick cars in the chase -- pretty amazing stuff Kasey -- -- -- Ed dad Jeff Gordon and just making it -- incredible.
Victory for him in in terms of I can Trace over the weekend and then you.
Does that change how you rates would you rather -- your teammates because again you could get into.
Potentially tough situations.
When you're up against tonight on the track and your -- for the championship.
It it is tough and I've been in that position with my teammates in the past and eight you know it's easy in some ways because.
I'm around those drivers I know what their race cars have in them for set ups and I know.
I know those three drivers so well I I can almost pick apart the strengths weaknesses and try to work on a strategy myself but.
It you know the hard part is that it's improve drinking and working on those mental but the things that you do in competition to be here you beat your opponent.
It's hard to look at your friends and your teammates -- think -- not bad things about it but aggressive the -- towards them.
Go out could you tell what you do off the track is -- as we were talking about is mentally important because of you when you work.
Racing for your fifth championship.
You really put the -- on dating him once -- And in press conferences it seemed like you're really where you're highlighting the pressures that would be -- him for him to win.
And -- again like how does that play into when you're dealing with parenting that's me would you still do the same thing.
How it's it's is different game you know that doesn't little subtleties that -- make it make it differ mean.
At the end of the day I'm just so happy for Hendrick motor sports we have 550 employees -- that build race cars for four teams.
And it's it's a big operation with big sponsorship dollars and balled down in my -- -- -- wanna be the best job I can't for them and to have you know a third of the Chase Field out of our building out of our operation just -- -- for everybody involved so.
-- stuff -- there are some subtleties to it they were all have to navigate but at the end of the day if we get one of these four cars to it's head table and.
I think it was this in new York and Las Vegas over the -- what is.
You -- video of McCain bring you back here -- -- -- highly volatile market that happen.
Is there any thing one last thing -- anything you don't have professionally or personally that you want right now.
That's hurting.
When life is really did but I I'm -- -- -- I doesn't fall back on the past and look forward in and I want publish more you know fine -- get up and go to work everyday in unemployment -- want the -- -- championship and.
