And who wells James -- -- is research analyst for Forrester joining us now with his take.
On the new products a first of all your thought on this brand new Kindle fire HD a long life battery all kinds of -- bells and whistles to love it.
Absolutely love it this is that the right move for Amazon they've stepped out they've taken their services oriented business and -- seven by the way.
We also want to make an amazing piece of -- to go with that I think thumbs up all around.
So should apple be concerned I mean I according to them according to Jeff -- those they're top of the line does everything the iPad does.
And it's 200 -- out bullets so far.
Apple is so far ahead they they've sold ninety million almost at this point of the iPad it's not like Applebee's to be trembling by apple will be watching closely.
Because they're now facing the price competition -- they've never had to face before and that's gonna really bother them even though they're gonna pretend that it doesn't.
What about Samsung their second behind apple should they be concerned.
Yes Samsung's -- -- be number three this basically makes Amazon a clear number two from from here on out and really what this does.
He's put the fear into Microsoft.
Microsoft is getting ready to announce all of its tablets its hybrid tablet lap -- Those are all gonna -- minute much too high -- price -- people are gonna look at them scratch their heads and say well let's either apple or Amazon that's basically the decision most consumers are gonna make.
James what about this legal decision that was just recently made against Samsung.
You know a lot of people -- saying that the Samsung galaxy.
Does what the new smaller iPad is going to do -- and their -- Kind of put fear into all the device makers that might be trying to compete with apple does that.
Does that sir -- cast any kind of Pall over these makers.
Yeah I didn't believe me every single one of these device makers is examining their patents potential infringements very closely because they don't want the legal hassle they don't -- to have to settle.
And that outlook the reputation tarnished that you get when everyone get to -- out yet you're just copy cat of apple you know Apple's one of the best companies in the world and you -- -- kind of copy them when you can legally.
But Amazon is looking at this as a Samsung as is LD HTC everybody because they don't wanna get pulled into -- and they're gonna try to.
Essentially direct the focus elsewhere -- look at this new thing you can play this game on our Kindle fire and then order the plush toy in the same experience that the kind of stuff.
Amazon's trying to -- to direct you away from any of that.
Concern no more plush -- please the house has overtaken by them James getting to what.
What we had Jeff Bezos saying it was an interesting -- -- -- we -- -- away money from people just buying a product we wanna make money when they use it.
Obviously read -- money coming in that would be a constant there.
Does that accomplish from what you've seen with -- brand new Kindle fire his hope and drink.
You know they already have that they do such a good job converting existing Kindle regular Kindle and Kindle values fire fire users.
Into repeat purchasers users of services.
I think they're looking at the metric and they're saying something like this if today's Kindle fire get someone to be two to three times more engaged than they were before.
The new Kindle fires probably will get people's three to four times as engaged and they're just adding up the -- and that means X number of dollars per month I think it's gonna work.
More than the headline here is the James is saying at Amazon will jump.
LeapFrog over Samsung and become second behind apple.
Well in the good news is that war products -- more options for consumers and eventually more price pressures on apple.
