So much so this -- the World Economic Forum released its global competitiveness report and the US is falling behind our ability to compete on the global stage has fallen.

For the fourth year in a row has confidence in the country's politicians.

Continues to decline joining me now is the world economic -- US CEO -- Kevin's diver Kevin.

Thank you so much for joining us we don't have a lot of times what I wanna get right to 01 of the reasons cited.

Is because of political deadlock although it isn't that isn't has -- that when politicians are deadlocked right about that for the US.

Well it's a bad thing in this particular case because the US fell in our rankings primarily due to concerns about -- about the fiscal cliff that's coming up.

And about concerns whether US politicians can get over the current dysfunction and start addressing some of these core issues in order to enable long term prosperity.

In Germany moved had a message I was kind of surprised about because of course they are dealing with the struggles in the EU themselves why -- Germany live ahead.

Well Germany scored well overall and -- index and Germany -- very well relative to other European countries that really suffer from.

Similar items us here in the US.

When you look at Germany it's structurally very sound compared to places like Greece which was 96 or Spain Italy Portugal -- Some relative basis -- leveraging strengths they also strength in terms of infrastructure a large market and other items as well.

-- and Lou -- -- the point earlier that it's pretty funny that's excellent is that the top the list and of course this study originated in Switzerland any bias there.

Well we're very confident that we're not biased we are based in Switzerland.

But stints on shows incredible strengths across many aspects of the index incredible strength and innovation.

Highest level of patents per capita of any country strong educational attainment and if you look at Switzerland overall it's a very compelling story it may be one of the very few countries now that's fighting to stop its currency from appreciating not depreciate.
