Hello everybody I'm Gerri Willis.

After accepting the Republican presidential nomination Mitt Romney well conducting some presidential duties today in Louisiana.

Touring areas devastated by hurricane -- -- But what's his speech last night and up to persuade voters to given the job.

Let's ask former Republican governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas host of Huckabee on the Fox News Channel.

I'm dying to know your reaction.

To Mitt Romney's speech was a good with the bad was it ugly.

I thought it was good and I think he did what he needed to do and that is first of -- he brought some warmth.

Which a lot of people didn't think he was capable up and when they saw him -- stop over describing that.

Time when his father would play a rose by his mother's bedside I mean it's it's hard to even talk about it without getting emotional -- I'm I'm not even in the family.

But I thought it was a great speech -- -- He laid out what he wanted to do he was not unkind to President Obama.

He doesn't cruelty.

He just said.

This is failed.

Give me a chance to fix it now I didn't have one pretty strong comment about Obama and Obama voters -- respond -- that -- If you felt that excitement when you voted for Barack Obama.

Shouldn't you feel that way now that he's President Obama.

You know there's something wrong with a -- a job is done as president.

When the best feeling you had was the -- you voted for him.

Because again he did not issue a personal attack he didn't intact -- spin -- integrity your character.

He talked about his job performance and said here's a person you trusted you -- -- you've given in four years.

You don't feel so giddy about it all right now.

I thought it was a great line because what it did it appealed to the emotional reaction of the voters.

Who do remember how optimistic they were when Obama was -- like to have -- they were about the future.

And now how disappointed.

They are and where we are.

Another company had that I that was interesting that's not getting as much coverage.

Was about Obama's performance vis a -- the environment.

It was interesting to me and it was also laugh line but it wasn't delivered that way here's Mitt -- President Obama promised to begin to slow the rise of the oceans.

-- heal the planet's.

My promise.

Is to help you and your family.

Here we go again back to the family -- that intro into it was pretty funny it -- I thought it was funny now -- not exactly a standup comic effect -- -- -- coaching and I'd say don't step on your laugh lines you know and I also.

Raise your voice give -- a little inflection that makes it very clear picture being sarcastic that this is satire because I think it.

There were some people in the audience that they weren't sure if he was saying it.

To be serious.

If you're and that oratory -- -- you're not looking at the screen you don't see you have facial expression you just hear the voice of the voice has to carry -- the room you can't trust.

That your facial expressions will ever work in a crowd bigger than fifty people.

Classy you know all about this in as a matter of fact Peggy Noonan said that your speech at the convention.

Was one of the most successful she really liked it and that means something because -- has a great speech measured.

Greatest living speech -- I when I read her comments I was floored and thrilled because it was like -- I told somebody was like.

A little leaguer being told by Babe Ruth he did good -- so I and that meant more to me that if anyone else and said anything everybody else can say I stunk up the joint.

But it Peggy Noonan says it was.

I go home with that not say thank you.

What does it take though to write a successful speech and would you put it.

Mitt Romney's speech up there on the list of best speeches of the convention because I think Paul Ryan's was great -- -- Chris Christie it was great.

Mark -- rubio was fantastic.

I thought and Romney was wonderful and and I'll tell you the line of the week not just have her speech but of the week.

She didn't -- given a litany of great reasons for her husband.

And -- successes and all these endeavors and instead I make this commitment to you.

My husband will not fail I thought that was a gut punch and said.

You know that's that's a powerful statement and and I believe that of all the things that I heard from the podium.

That somehow stuck with me and it was one of those that I just -- Jolted in my chair thinking freight line.

-- that hit meat sales.

What does it take them to write that speech -- you know yeah I I think the key to writing in his speeches it has to be your thoughts your words your heart your spirit in.

People can maybe hand you stuff -- -- let me tell you I was so -- the Romney people gave me total license on this more than any speech I've ever given -- the RNC.

Usually -- fight for every word.

I could not -- asked him to be more gracious they basically wrote it lasted.

Anything that you guys are and -- what we like what you've done.

Wow and I saw Paris Thomas Roberts where -- really go I gotta ask you about Clint Eastwood -- I am the only living American apparently who loved what he says don't count me with you I thought it was great.

Look -- the only unscripted moment the whole -- week I love the spontaneity of -- I love the fact that Clint Eastwood could come out there.

Look he can get away with -- Clint Eastwood.

He's not a senator our congressmen our governor if he hadn't -- people would have said -- what's being a little frivolous now he has -- grab a toss.

To come and say that and I thought it was delightful.

Hot Saudi added a great.

-- spark to very choreographed convention.

And you listen to Republicans -- that the Democrats hated it but.

Next week when they trot out their Hollywood stars will all be complaining.

I loved his lines -- said that.

Stands people worked for us we're the box yes there are there any employee that's that was our strong breakout.

Absolutely governor it is always great to see fine thank -- -- I appreciate it good to see you.
