Us from the Republican National Convention.
-- well joining us right now from Dallas Texas is Republican senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson -- how is good to speak with you and I wanted to ask you do you think that and Romney's speech last night works in helping.
Governor Romney gained some support from -- vote.
I share -- I think she was spectacular.
With Oakley clusters -- share was so good.
I just think she spoke to things that are not usually said to women.
And women understood -- that we have it harder that women are the ones who have to work harder at.
The office to get respect and then go home tired but the child still has a book report to do in she's got to do that too -- She's got to be on the phone with the elderly parent I thought she was fed -- Yes senator I'm curious so overall the party in general has been under attack recently some of that of course coming from the Democrats that that the GOP is not friendly.
So women some of that -- to do with reproduction rights and things like that but do you agree with that do you still like the GOP needs to kind of maybe.
Kind of -- here women's -- a little bit better when it comes to certain rights that women want to keep frankly.
Well I think that.
-- -- Republican Party and somewhat the Democratic Party to.
Need to focus more on the needs of women absolutely because women are carrying a huge share of the burden of this country which I think and Romney said so well last night.
But I think that was.
Republicans are trying to do is say -- you really want your college graduate student to come back home because.
He or she can't get a job.
Do you really want that student who work to get the college degree and now has.
Probably student loans to have to take an unpaid intern -- because there are no jobs available.
I think we are appealing to.
The women who understand that.
A lot of them don't have jobs are there under employed in their children are not getting jobs and they worked awfully hard to educate them.
And we want to change that and four more years of Barack Obama will go in the same direction where we've -- -- Before -- really -- -- and I understand from a fiscal standpoint do you think the GOP is going in the right direction but I have to ask you from a social standpoint do you think they're going in the right direction.
Well I think that.
Republicans are a pro life.
Party that really values life and the protection of the unborn I think that is a fact but I think.
More than 50% of the -- and in this country agree with that and we all know that life is very special.
I think that is a fact.
I also think though -- that we have to look at the things that we've done to protect rape victims to.
Protect violence against women every single woman senator Republican and Democrat voted for the violence against women act and every single one of us has worked to make rape victims have a fair chance I have four.
In the courtroom so.
I do think that we are working on that as well but I think the economy is the focal point of this election alright senator Kay Bailey Hutchison from Texas -- there's always good to speak with you thank you for taking the time.
-- thank you.
