-- turned to Paul Ryan and his big speech.

Let's not bring in now to preview that talk a little bit about last night Joseph -- Fox News contributor and a longtime democratic strategist so.

Also very important kind of -- perspective we've had a couple of Republicans on the talk about a joke.

As you might expect.

This morning already but -- -- where you -- -- give us a quick recap of of last night what stood out.

I you know I thought it was a pretty good opening night I think in Romney I clearly I think start off a little nervous the first 45 minutes but -- they've achieved.

Yeah it was anything off that you've seen the cover over nicely -- -- really good job I thought.

I don't know I think the one criticism might have is that she didn't really tell us anything we had we didn't know me it was a reverse.

Young glancing blow it this story of father husband grandfather without really getting into some.

Anecdotal stories they would have given us a little bit more insight I think that's what a lot of people wanted.

But I think she did exactly what she needed to do I think governor Chris deeply.

To the television audience and not to the room I think the room wanted to hear him say some really bad things about Obama.

And it -- it was much better.

I don't think doubt would have gone over with the viewers the and that -- the end independents and undecideds that they want it so I think he toned himself down on the negative.

But but made a strong case for the for the party.

You you know -- it's time to tell the truth Saturday at.

How they amassed wealth yet we'll see how what Romney's message in Ryan's messages tonight yeah but I think if they did they had a good first night.

Let's talk about our let's talk about -- tonight then and Paul Ryan.

It in particular units since he's.

-- -- -- of of Mitt Romney from the democratic side has heard all the tax city's hard for.

The last couple years and -- in terms of what he would -- to Medicare and all the rest of it on the Republican side.

He's been highly praised been very episode obviously in the room this is a guided they're gonna get fired up about so this is our guy right Paul Ryan the what do you look for you sit there looking boy if he says this -- pounce on its core.

Or or -- are different way of looking at the Paul Ryan's speech tonight from the democratic side.

What I -- I think -- they they they -- in the -- both rev up the room and rev up the base.

Nationwide news for obviously in the swing states but the other thing we want to do is.

For him days since since come often -- ensure that insurers.

Independents and swing voters and undecideds out there.

That he's not gonna take a meat -- to Medicare that this is a guy who does have evident.

What he's been doing his trip down to Florida with his mother I mean he's got he's got to show that side of him to sit -- -- You know sort of prevent the glancing not granting those hard clothes that are gonna come right from a -- and Democrats on on Medicare -- he's got to do both things.

You to -- not go over he can't -- go rev up the base so much he looks.

Like the French -- it's gonna take out Medicare that that that won't work so they've they've got he's.

I think he's got to keep believe do it and he's and he's obviously very gifted in terms of how -- -- where you.

On a personal level on Paul Ryan you among those in brought a lot of democratic campaigns you've won us a -- Yes this is the guy -- -- because we can attack him are you saying.

-- -- -- a little bit worried about -- the substance and and what else Paul Ryan -- the table.

He is both of those things are I would I -- -- when I was asked before and I said Romney should pick him and it wasn't because I was gonna be a static it.

We Democrats to go after among Medicare I really think Romney needed to do something to -- this race.

He needed to do something polled.

-- -- there's not many in my party who like it when somebody says it was a bold decision but it was and partly because it is this risky.

-- -- Brian brings real electrical the electoral new ideas to the table some of those ideas are very controversial and could cost in this election.

But it they can make the case Ryan is one of the reasons Romney will win if he wins I think it was a great pick.

And I am both.

As static date Democrats might be able taken to task on Medicare are both very afraid that.

They might be able put this together -- -- -- it did is very very tough it in November we'll see it -- I think this convention is gonna tells a lot about which way this is an area that really just playing both sides welcome Joseph but thank you very much -- the fact that for coming on.

This morning all watched not -- -- from from -- thank you the Colombian politics along okay how we could tell I salute -- --
