-- national convention taking place in Tampa Florida last night it was the New Jersey governor Chris Christie delivering the keynote address at the convention and among other things accusing President Obama and the Democrats have whistling a happy tune while -- I think it's off the fiscal -- one of the lines delivered.

By Governor Christie -- our next guest a member of the gang of six that led efforts to craft a deficit deal -- not congress senator Saxby Chambliss joined.

Republican from Georgia thank you senator for coming on we really do appreciate it give us -- You're loans off first -- -- could ask you about and Romney as well as -- do in some people's estimation steal the show but give us your thoughts.

On governor Chris.

Spot -- both just -- -- the park last night obviously there were different functions both speeches delivered both Enron and Governor Christie but.

While our Governor Christie just may elect mean the Obama camp there's gotta be look in this -- saying why did we really make those kind of promises for years ago and we didn't deliver and they don't have clue what you he's right.

Well I thought was -- did an outstanding.

Is it strange -- all the your didn't seem strange while you're watching the speech that it took him so long to mention.

Mitt Romney's name that it yeah I know there's a buildup and and it and finally sell that's the guy running for president that strike you strange at all are now.

-- not -- I mean this is three day convention.

Oh.

-- four days but still three days and the the crescendo undies to come tomorrow night.

And governor Christie's job was to kick it off last night to get everybody revved up then.

You know he has his own way of doing and voted -- ever do a great job of that but I thought the substance of his speech.

Really was the most important part of it and and I think it is.

His -- you know and leading to the bill -- -- Romney that will come tomorrow night was a perfect.

Many of the pundits going in said that the job of of -- Romney last night was to quote on quote humanize.

Her husband you know whatever that means but to that that was supposedly what she was our task was and then the reviews -- -- a boy she really did a great job of that she was.

Personable she came across this a natural speaker and a terrific advocate for her husband does the fact though that that's needed that -- this quote unquote demonization.

Of Mitt Romney is something that people think is needed is that an issue or big problem you think in the fall campaign.

Well the Obama administration sources been refusing to talk about their record all the wanted to do rose to throw stones -- Mitt Romney you know bears issues and her job last night was related to introduce the the real met robbed and not the presidential candidate but the father the husband.

The grandfather.

And I just thought she did a terrific job of that she.

She did human -- and and what she did -- was just might.

People sitting in their living rooms of -- around America realize that you know this guy has the same issues I have whether it was a the personal issues that -- talked about he acts like the rest of us do with -- -- law.

Contributions.

And whatnot and just make -- sound like a real guy and better what she was supposed.

-- we're going to have a live report from our -- Jeff Flock in the city of New Orleans just a minute talking about the hurricane talk about hurricane Isaac now tonight.

As you know senator it'll be Paul Ryan's turned.

To talk and it's it's different -- -- this is the biggest speech of his life.

And everything else I guess it's a two part question number one what do you expect from Paul Ryan and to what extent do you think his speech and and maybe governor Romney speech will be overshadowed by the focus on obviously an important story hurricane Isaac.

-- -- thoughts and prayers continue to go after those folks in the Louisiana now Arkansas and potentially region Mississippi region gee -- it's hard to believe it was seven years ago.

The Katrina hit and here on the anniversary of it looking at New Orleans again and we spent a lot of federal money in New Orleans build enough.

Protective system that looks like did may have worked in part not worked in part but it needed our prayers do go out for those folks but.

We obviously have business to do here and the business tonight will be -- mainly.

Given his comments and polish such a Smart -- such an articulate.

I think he's gonna take the issues hit -- all McConnell he's he's not gonna back off of what needs to be done to get America's fiscal house in order.

If he's had a -- and then his plan if given the opportunity.

What will in all likelihood of war -- you know he's gonna lay out the details of that and say look.

He'll give Mitt Romney cannot chance it will -- -- The three and a half years of deficit will reverse this time employment we've will reverse the fact that so many people of officer job so.

That's what I expect him to talk about tonight involves.

Good.

Good family man just like Romney.

So I expect him to do a good job tonight -- to channels to thank you -- for joining us this morning appreciate it.

-- Okay hurricane -- moving it.
