Let's talk first what I think is the biggest of all of these which is energy independence -- when -- -- -- not -- He says for the Americas I assume that includes Canada and Mexico helping the United States so it's all three countries.
Operating as a unit is that possible energy independence for the Americas by -- wanting.
Well it depends if we have them -- political well we certainly have.
Plenty of energy.
And in North America altogether if we have the political well we can get -- done.
-- right now we have an energy policy of -- opportunities so.
We have a political will is certainly can be done well.
If ever presumably if if Romney is elected president that that political will would exist would -- not ordered could a democratic senate.
Stymie the process.
Well I think that that could happen but I think -- red white blue it shouldn't be about parties and should be about what's good for the nation.
We certainly we let 300 billion dollars revenue leave this country every year to go get other people's energy.
We have the energy we have the technology and we have the best environmental rules in the world we should.
We should make it red white and blue and -- President Obama.
Us as we could do better where the environmental rules and he is oriented EPA and other institutions under his control.
Two to really crack down on carbon energy production in this country are the current regulations.
From your standpoint oriented more towards killing off carbon energy.
Or towards energy independence.
Well there oriented towards find and reasons not to do things rather than use our own resources and -- and it right.
It's it's a negative attitude it's actually a way to stop.
Production in the United States we have 30% of the world's coal that's an ace in the hole we should figure out how to use it.
And use environment environmental solutions.
Not reasons to stop it.
Well it coal as the source -- not only among Republicans at this convention but also some Democrats particularly the coal miners union which is where the current head of the ACL yet ACL.
ACL excuse me the AFL CIO used to be he came from.
The coal miners union so it might that be an issue word or you could actually get some support from the unions.
Well we certainly are aligned in terms of the use of red white and blue energy in the jobs and it creates so.
With the unions and was with the energy companies were certainly aligned.
In terms of -- and our own resources that's true all right now natural gas is something that's also under your purview you guys have got coal and natural gas.
They're all these new fracking regulations explain what effect they have.
On the production natural gas in this country.
Well we've developed.
New technology in the United States to -- and extract large amounts of gas it's a game changer for the United States.
Now within a new industrial new technology.
You have to have -- rules those rules should be to develop the energy and bring another ground in -- sensitive.
Sensitive environmentally way and not just make rules that restricted so there is some conflict but I think that'll get worked out because there's yeah.
Did he -- under this is even under a second term of President Obama should be reelected you think those rules could be worked out between the producers like yourself in the government.
Well I think to I think they'll be more restrictive if we get a second term.
Was President Obama he has a different way of looking at -- vs the the candidates -- run against him we have to go but I got to ask are you optimistic or pessimistic about our energy future.
I'm very optimistic I'm a fourth generation.
Coal miner myself and we have the energy.
