We'll -- European Central Bank giving the markets here at home a bump up today stocks climbing and you as the ECB's considering setting targets under a new bond buying program.

Now that might seem logical but here's -- twist on the eurozone crisis that you may not have expected.

The British paper the independent reporting that President Obama has asked the eurozone to keep Greece as -- member until after the presidential election.

Will this help or hurt his reelection bid -- Karl Rove former deputy chief.

Senior advisor to president George W.

Bush and Fox News contributor thanks for joining us -- You -- senator so I guess the big question is what -- the president's motivation to do that yes.

Well -- -- shall we don't know whether the US government has asked the right.

European Union to do this or not but look the president Obama's campaign is risk adverse they don't want to have new variables inject -- in the campaign.

The rumors earlier this year reports in the Israeli newspapers that the government had asked the Israelis not to take action against Iran until after the election.

And that's and to be expected -- if you're running a presidential reelection campaign you don't like to have things it's sort of intrude into the campaign.

Less than usual as if this is true it's really remarkable that the government would actually act on those instincts rather than just simply keep them to themselves.

The -- that's sort of get in the way of voter confidence in the president if they feel like the president is making a decision and he hasn't yet.

But if he -- make a decision.

On the -- of the election and not in the best interest of the country.

Well I think it does undermine the view the president as a strong leader if you're if you're seen -- doing -- -- strictly for politics and not for.

Good policy but look the president has been inured to that for a while I mean think about this last year.

A year in the run up the election most president's attempt to get something being done and President Obama stated 2011 talked in -- State of the Union Address about high speed rail.

High speed Internet and quote countless green jobs and -- not.

Simpson Bowles -- -- reform not budget reform not.

Reining in spending doing some bit about the deficit.

You know not tax reform instead it was all about you know these three -- small ball items I think it's indicative of the political mindset.

The government say in my opinion way too much what happens in the west -- others particularly in.

Street well let's talk about where we stand today in the latest Fox News poll showing that this raises -- neck in neck you've got the Romney Paul ticket.

At 45%.

And then you've got the Obama Biden ticket at 44%.

You know it.

You've got a look at this is a -- I guess you would say what really gonna help either of these candidates.

Pull ahead.

Well first -- it's interesting is remember just couple weeks ago we had a fox of poll that showed.

Governor Romney -- behind President Obama so it shows the strength of this choice of Paul Ryan.

As his running mate but look into this going to be a close race in each campaign is gonna need to take advantage of its convention.

Frankly governor Romney has a slight advantage here because typically.

Over the last.

You know 4050 years the party that goes first with its -- -- gets a bigger -- typically.

-- the party goes that follows with its conventional Republican -- next week democratic commenced the week after.

But it's going to be a close election and no ifs ands or buts about it.

And you know it could widen out at the end but in all likelihood.

The conventions are going to be -- the debates are gonna be key and frankly what the candidates do each and every day on the campaign trail.

Can can make a big difference if the president goes out and says is he did in Roanoke with.

Famous example if you build a business you didn't build that someone else did then that -- then that becomes really important after Labor Day if either candidate makes -- mistake like that.

And what that that was really interesting is a Gallup poll actually showed today that as we answer the election.

That voters are sort of -- of souring on the candidates not one or the other but both candidates because of this.

Negativity in the negative campaigns that they're both were I running in the attacks on each other.

Let the voters seems to be losing but a confidence -- Yeah look at hill over the course is some what's been -- if you look at pollster dot com which -- strength in the favorable on payrolls and Canada's they've both gone up now.

I wrote this in my column this week in the Wall Street Journal.

One advantage that president Obama has as did his negatives are lower than present -- to governor Romney's but only by a couple of points.

The advantage that governor Romney has is -- his negatives are more diffuse there -- there around the question of you know is he rich guy is he an outsource your jobs due to China a busy busy weird as -- as the Obama campaign likes to -- likes to suggest he has.

President Obama's problems is that his unfavorable -- appear to be linked his performance in office.

In other words they think he's done a lousy job and economy the deaths of the debt.

Health care they really don't like Obama -- he's the first Democrat president history have a negative rating.

On the issue of of handling of health care so his are more tied to his performance and office.

It's easier for governor Romney to sort of give people an explanation -- years.

And to deal with these issues than it is for President Obama to see a significant change in economic conditions.

Which is the only thing in my opinion that -- lead to improvement in his handling of the economy.

Well one thing's for sure it's all about the economy as the head towards the election Carl -- thank you so much for joining us tonight.

-- thank you -- thanks thanks Fred yeah.
