Weekend -- Jamie so much.
Still no matter 56%.
Of voters in twelve states twelve done and critical states -- this presidential election.
Say today and their -- -- are still no better off than they were in 2008.
This according to the latest Gallup poll released this morning.
-- Norquist is president of Americans for Tax Reform.
Joining us now from Washington DC to that question.
Why is Barack Obama the president -- -- still able to lead in this election cycle given the way Americans feel about the economy.
Well if you look at the Gallup poll in the Rasmussen -- he's not leading.
And -- -- -- some polls that suggest he's doing okay.
He's -- under 50%.
He's been behind -- Rasmussen.
And Gallup overall this is not where the incumbent wants to be.
At this point I mean did the year before Reagan was reelected four million jobs were created.
During the Reagan recovery that not just where people not worse off they were getting.
I significantly better off Obama's got a situation where people don't see things getting better haven't seen them.
Getting better for the last year.
And none of his policies.
Have changed the policies that brought us stagnation.
Under employment low employment low job creation.
When you ask Obama what he wants to do his answer to everything is more of what I've done.
Right how does that change things but that.
The Democrat -- argument made by many Democrats.
Is that if they had been allowed to spend more money in the year repeatedly education and infrastructure.
On new sources of energy -- AVG if they had been allowed to spend even more.
The economy would be in better shape.
Well except that doesn't make any sense because remember the Democrats had control of the house the senate and the president say.
Not by one or two votes but by strong super majorities.
Obama could have passed any tax increase she wanted to any tax -- he wanted Q&A spending -- they -- -- And he did he spent five trillion dollars that we didn't have.
In debt he spent 800 billion on the stimulus this did not create jobs what he says -- Albright spent another 400 billion.
On quote -- stimulus in addition to the five trillion dollars in deficit spending that would have made a difference -- that doesn't pass the laugh test.
But a critical part of what the president did do or -- the president and congress was extend the tax cuts.
Extended the bush tax cuts for two years we -- a payroll tax cut.
I mean -- those missed it -- -- big tax cuts war.
-- part of the stimulus plan Grover what those mistakes it.
Well the extension of the lower marginal tax rates that bush put -- in 20012003.
For individuals.
For capital gains -- dividends that didn't cut taxes that just maintain the status quo.
What he did that change things was the massive new spending and he -- -- some targeted.
Tax cuts out for a number of make believe energy sources.
But exactly the sorts of things he complains about.
-- if it was done for real energy sources.
-- good to see you as always thank you so much so are we we'll see you soon and talk about well taxes and more -- or.
