The judge let's move on to technology right now on windows dates may not be out -- the fall but for those in the market for a laptop some.
But they left that -- two of them on different ends of the the market that you might be interest and then.
Joining us now from Washington DC in this week's all things digital -- -- Oskar and all.
Personal -- policy columnist at the Wall Street Journal.
Wall that my first question is when does say is coming out in late October -- -- -- two laptops now.
But -- people stings still need lap tops the mean there are students gone back to school and getting emails from parents saying I've read everything you've said about waiting by.
You know my my son starting college my daughter's starting college my.
Child this you know am -- going to be a senior in high school on our computer died what do we do.
And then there are just a regular people who as the economy slowly.
Picks up -- are finally looking to replace a laptop for May -- to expand and and they need one.
-- talk about these to them -- one is a Lenovo.
And the others at HP so I don't.
One of things got there at the beginning is that you had issues with both in terms of battery but tell us about both of which one you like more.
-- -- -- I deliberately picked to cook really different they're they're both -- but they're really different ends of the market.
Thinkpads you know have kind of been the royalty of -- windows laptops prolonged time.
And that tradition is continued in this machine night.
I reviewed it's called the thinkpad X one car -- then it's made of carbon fiber in much of its construction.
It -- it starts at thirteen 99.
It's and what they've done that's really seeing as they've taken -- fourteen inches high resolution gorgeous green.
And have packed in -- a body and a way that is about what you would expect that thirteen inch computer.
So that's that's a really interest in technical feats -- and it's light.
It's expensive and the thing that it would be nice for that kind of price and that kind of engineering to assume.
Great battery life but I did not find great battery life on my test.
Just tougher than the industry's test.
I got about four -- urge you might be able to -- five Arizona -- more normally use that's just kind of mediocre.
So that's that's the thinkpad.
Weighing on the other end of the scale is the HP and B six -- beef.
And they qualities leak book because they can't call it an old -- -- book.
Which is an Intel name and this machine uses and GMT.
That have been Intel processor but it cost 599.
Actually has a bigger screen fifteen point six inch screen.
And that weighs four and a half pounds -- machine with a fifteen point six inch screen it's thin and light but it certainly is bigger.
Then then think pad and -- I found the machine you know more sluggish.
In and not really -- quite the performer that the other one was but it's less than half the half the cost and it had somewhat better battery life for hours and forty minutes of my test.
And Walt really quickly these two machines will be able to handle when does say when it comes out right.
The companies say so and Microsoft makes it they're pretty clear that almost any machine on the any decent machine and these two are both decent on the market today will be able -- -- windows eight that there is a -- out windows eight.
It's gonna have a lot of touch screen features.
And these are not touch screen -- and laptops -- and almost no laptops are.
So if you -- now if you have to -- now.
Bear in mind you won't -- -- is the touch screen features.
-- is good to see -- Great as always.
Take care of that -- a 75%.
Tax though and while that's gonna make that we today -- Illinois and not 8% in this country back in the fifty sound.
You know payback I remember the fifties is pretty good though so I don't know again what we can have -- On talk about -- yeah pop pop pop -- yeah.
I might not agree with all of your positions on that -- Musician not dislike big debate very GAAP as well as good to see you as always behind -- of the Wall Street.
