Developments on the presidential campaign trail I'm joined now -- -- -- the host of special report on the partners channel.
And therefore which are grown she'll -- more Brooke -- and now its misery start moving to Decision Day November -- -- good to have you here.
And there have been here are let's start is Ed Henry was it would just report the White House refusing to repudiate what even the Washington Post.
Dismisses frankly is restored completely bogus.
Set of statements by others the -- of -- totally.
Yeah I think -- -- hit it on the head I think the White House is enjoying this moment they don't see the backlash yet.
They see Harry Reid leading this charge even though it's on one anonymous source.
And they seem putting increasing question marks in voters' minds about hey what is in those tax returns.
I think there is a point though.
That perhaps there is a backlash as you have reporters in -- Vegas and in Nevada saying.
How are we to believe anything.
Based on one source and you won't tell us what it is.
And that -- -- may be it is part of construction that reveals.
A race between Romney and an incumbent president.
That is absolutely.
Statistically -- -- right now.
Yeah I think you're seeing in a nationally it's very close these battleground states are very -- I -- I just came back from Ohio it does seem like the president has opened up a little bit of -- lead in Ohio six points in the average of polls and some of these battleground states in the midwest have been shifting towards Obama so.
The Romney campaign I think.
Is really focused on these individual states about twelve of them right and we've narrowed it down to about twenty counties across the country.
Twenty counties and how does that work within those -- account.
Yeah I mean some of them they're didn't obviously different issues different demographics.
-- Again in the midwest which is a big concern because Republicans have to win Ohio to win the White House.
It seems like the economy -- got a little bit better there -- is adding jobs there.
And there seems to be a sense that the president has picked up a couple points.
The president in the chart we just put up 26 points ahead of where we were just a couple of months ago in the north -- college.
And governor Romney's picked up ten he's sitting 123.
And these things are always -- actual no matter how careful the science in putting them up there.
That only 23.
Electoral votes away from what is needed for the presidency.
Again.
Do you have can you divine what governor Romney has to do to make a difference here.
Well number one he has to win Ohio number two Florida and doubt they have a planned as far as these states that they have to put in their column.
Listen we know there's a lot of time between now and November 6 and in between there we'll have a convention.
Where Republicans will try to unite and roll out their candidate with.
A VP pick that very well could.
You know you never know what could inspire their conservative base.
It's possible Paul Ryan Marco Rubio in the short short list were told.
As well as Tim Pawlenty and Rob Portman so.
You have a lot of time between now and then but I think the Romney campaign is looking at those numbers in and saying we've got to move pretty quick.
-- thanks for being here --
