Not even Barry would -- to quarterback is the game's most important position.

And it seems biggest business decision is when they have to -- -- young quarterback so with that we go back to 1998.

The colts had to choose that year between hate mending and Ryan leaf hard to believe now but back then it was a very tough decision to make and they made.

What turned out to be the right choice.

Picked Payton man -- he led them to a Super Bowl title.

Help to get a new stadium built.

-- -- which is a complete bust on and off the -- was arrested years later for robbing homes and do drugs that was a dramatic example but you fast forward to this year again.

Decision time millions of dollars on the line to star quarterbacks and the colts have to make the choice they picked Andrew -- At Stanford over Robert Griffin the third from Baylor so the question we have is did the colts make the right choice this timer.

Warren Moon himself a former NFL star is here to tell us if the -- picked the right guy.

All right warrants -- -- pick -- it's Andrew -- Robert Griffin who detect.

You political -- don't ignore these guys I think that they can either be number one overall -- but.

It depends on who fits your personality of your football team the best to what you wanna do offensively which -- you take that they both have a lot of similarities as far as writing.

Very intelligent.

Also -- Area athletic.

They're they're.

Great leaders but if you have god it's maybe more gifted -- the run in the -- on the outside of throwing the football outside the pocket you wanna go maybe a Robert Griffin if you want more of a classic.

Drop backstop has surveyed you want Andrew look so I think either one of these guys could go number one overall but just depends on what pitcher for your personality.

Either one could have been a number one pick in your right both might be successful because even though we made that -- a comparison between.

I'll -- demanding and it's so stark it might not be this time around these guys both might have great careers -- talking about how the reevaluated because I think a lot has changed.

This is what's really the -- about I think a lot of the evaluation is become more scientific it's become more analytical.

Then back in your day back when you played and -- -- to go prove yourself in Canada they got it wrong warrant on yield.

You -- a little bit different if you were playing now that you would have been more fairly evaluated.

Well I think the draught is not an exact size is no question about you look at Tom Brady who went luxury -- Of the draft when he came out of the University of Michigan and you see what he's done in the NFL so.

-- they don't always get everybody right in the -- how mistakes on guys very high and the draft as well but.

I think characters is something that's really being looked -- a lot harder these days all right what a guy's background is all about and that's why you probably won't have that.

Problem with Ryan leaf like you had a mere fourteen years ago paid many compared to these two guys 112.

Because of all of these guys have very high character in the -- that has been demonstrated throughout their careers.

But they've gone all the way back in of their childhood to make sure that's that's not an issue.

I was gonna bring up that some of these statistical evaluations on the field -- is there evaluated on things they've done not just how -- walker.

Do you look like a quarterback as opposed -- you perform like one but you're right character.

Is also a big part of it how about I know this is a sensitive issue for you.

But how about how things change in terms of how race is part of this do you think it was a big part of why someone maybe like you.

Was overlooked to some degree again had to go to -- prove yourself then became an NFL great as opposed -- -- Robert Griffin.

Number two overall pick as as a black quarterback.

The other a lot of stereotype is back in those laser in the seventies when I was coming out and not only those stereotypes in the in the the public core in the media but there were also within football but now -- those stereotypes are within football as far as.

The owners the general managers coaches.

They don't like if you can play they don't care what color you -- so they're still gonna be those expert analysts out there that.

-- have those different opinions about guys like with care and who last year yes there were a lot of -- a lot of things being said about him as far as his leadership his work -- things like that but those were outside of football.

But the people inside a football didn't care about those -- that's why he's drafted number one overall really didn't matter.

We might get into this a little bit more later odd because I talked to Robert Griffin not -- so about race but about.

What type of quarterback he is and it seemed to me he he feels like he needs to prove himself.

As being a pasture that he needs to people he thinks he's he he's he's qualified and I'm sure a lot of people do but he feels like people talk about his running first.

And I wonder if that's like the old Scott and a -- part of that's just easy he's interpret aptly put part of that is.

Maybe the old stereotype of a black quarterback as opposed to traditional pocket passing quarterback hasn't seen it seems like he can throw the ball pretty well -- Well that's where he's made his living throw the football he's not that -- runner he's a very fast guy and once you get through the open not too many guessing -- because -- -- overall speed.

But he's not -- -- Michael -- very shifty with a lot of moves and things like that he will also throw the ball from the pocket.

In I wish you didn't have to think he felt like he had to.

Prove himself as a pastor because I think he's proven that over the course of this career and once he gets in the NFL I think -- so people to say.

And it's probably a good thing the times have changed so much and well.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Thank you very much for coming up.

All right thanks for having me --
