Here's a question for you -- federal worker who doesn't pay his or her fair share of taxes -- fired.

Tax sheets sheets that is on the government payroll or more common than you think.

A government report finds federal workers -- billions in back taxes.

The house tonight voting on a bill that would fire federal workers for cheating Uncle Sam and prevent the hiring of those late with their tax payments.

Republican congressman Jason -- to -- top.

Who sponsored that bill joins me now -- -- Were you expecting tonight is a house can approve this thing.

It's show that I can imagine somebody vote against it but.

You never know that's why we have to have the votes some of the Democrats have argued against that.

Those -- believe that no union can do any wrong are are opposed to -- some attack some of the unions have been opposed to itself.

Here in the next forty minutes or so will vote on.

Well act hopefully we'll get to cover a little bit of that live I help but hear the numbers.

The tax debt tax debt this isn't money that's -- and do and knowing.

A federal employees is one point 03 billion and that -- some 98000.

Workers unpaid federal income taxes in 2010.

How what is this happen.

This is they annual number.

The worry is that over the last up from 2004 to 2010 that number's gone from about 588.

Million.

To over a billion dollars in unpaid taxes and so.

We said hey if you -- you how does this happen people just don't pay their taxes they're not getting him -- they haven't worked it out with the IRS.

Bomb and what we said as they get to that point where they just refuse to pay their tax -- pay their taxes than they ought to be fired and we shouldn't hire anybody either that that isn't serious delinquent tax.

I think that's an interesting point chill and and we should be clear here here not talking about firing people -- they get that first letter from the IRS these are people who have leans out.

Right this is like weighed down the road in trouble with the IRS these people or are people who really are choosing not to pay.

They are literally thumbing their nose at the very people that are paying their their their checks and but if you're trying to do the right thing if you're if you're getting your wages garnished we're not gonna chopper legs off.

But they're still a significant portion of people by the thousands that don't pay their federal taxes.

You know here on Capitol Hill Jerry we have nearly 700.

Federal employees that don't pay their federal taxes and their -- helping to write the laws -- -- nation -- Just so wrong guy and you know -- and they're supposed to be.

Supporting -- they're supposed to be reporting to us and they're not contributing to the federal -- What are the interesting -- so this 36 a president Obama's office staff owes back taxes Uncle Sam.

So even once you're inside the White House the administration itself.

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Over a thousand employees there at the Treasury Department how this.

And -- you put this in a movie Jerry nobody believed -- that the Office of Government Ethics the office -- government ethics as a percentage nearly 7% of those employees.

Are seriously delinquent in their taxes -- This it's resilient and I -- -- ask you about this event is concern of some people you know what our men and women and in the armed services be affected by this.

We excluded that we also gave a provision in there where where -- people -- sensitive national security situations that just have to be there.

There are some exemptions out of there but we're talking about the massive employees from -- departments of the IRS did.

To the department of interior mean you name it it -- and Capitol Hill to so there can be some exceptions attached just get on a pathway to pay him backing to be just fine but if you don't.

Then we need the ability to fire those people and they should never be hired -- the first place there's too many good hard working people and there's too many good federal employees but.

Almost 3% now expect it's just over 3% of our federal workers fall under this category it's just unacceptable.

This reminds me of Greece this happening Greece where people were employed by the government don't pay their taxes.

Jason Javed thanks for coming on tonight we will follow that story that's for sharing -- like tonight thanks.
