San Bernardino is the latest California city to go bankrupt and now financial analysts are working what you for the city of of Compton.

Say that -- Citi has until September 1 to decide whether it too will file for bankruptcy.

Our next guest says don't forget that the state is just as in -- -- does any one of those cities.

Joining the company is Sacramento bee political columnist down at -- data are welcome to the program.

Thank -- now.

-- Citi can go bankrupt as state cannot predict that bankruptcy.

So what if the end game is bankruptcy for cities what is the end game for the insolvent state of California.

While the governor has his way of the end game of -- raise taxes at least for a few years to our -- and state budget deficit.

That -- -- it's been about thirty billion dollars in in debt run up over the last several years.

As the governor -- both governors to governors and legislators.

Were unable to.

Rectify the difference between -- in coming out ago.

The best dollar and game is it -- -- -- raise taxes or can you bring in a bit more revenue may be did you drive more jobs out of the state in the economy goes down the deficit gets worse.

So what is the end game.

What did -- and I guess if particularly if the taxes don't -- just to muddle along and try to.

Keep the lights on -- day after day there doesn't seem to be any kind of long range plan other than to raise taxes in California.

After that it's kind of who -- and then the -- nobody has nobody has a plan beyond that other than try to model.

Also tell me explain to me why -- California voters keep voting for more of the same when more of the same keeps running into more -- more of the same financial trouble what's going.

Well let's say that's a good question nobody knows the answer that question California's become a very democratic state.

Particularly in the last twenty years hasn't voted for president for our republic -- -- presence -- 1988.

Used to be a -- Republican -- -- what happened.

The defense industry collapsed a lot of people left California defense workers particularly at a big influx of immigrants and -- change the political tenor of California say.

It's a pretty blue state not on all issues you know on some third.

Death penalty and taxes it tends to be somewhat conservative but basically the Democrats run this -- them probably will for a long time to come.

I've got a political professional with -- his name is Doug -- who knows a lot about politics and we were discussing this though -- and he says look.

There's no Republican Party doesn't exist in the state of California -- -- -- I pretty much so it's a very very weak party it tends to be it's kind of it's lost its kind of moderate members.

The fastest growing segment of California electorate are independent -- up to about 20% of the voters.

Republicans have been the -- actually Democrats have been in decline for that matter where they're still -- numerous than Republicans.

And the Democrats seem to be able to win those independent voters better than Republicans -- Republican Party is very very weak doesn't have any money doesn't have much.

-- -- kind in California okay.

You know we're looking France's where's the end game why this big support for the left we keep on asking that same question and California keeps on running into more a more financial trouble.

We'll come back to then if we made because I don't -- this thing is gone away and we want to your answers to our questions down -- -- everybody thanks for joining us thank you.
