And speaking and we're -- I didn't feel more upbeat as we send it out to the -- studios right now with Ingrid at Vanderbilt.

How are you good morning.

Why aren't getting aren't Harry either way do good I'm so excited to talk about how women are increasingly becoming small business owners -- -- the north the first you -- explain your really nifty title today.

Dell -- -- residents -- is that.

Yeah and yeah as well -- the -- -- residence is actually a position that is traditional inside of venture capital firm.

And we think that there maybe six or seven of us inside the fortune 500 but at the IRI bridge.

The outside -- and the short story evidence to basically represents.

The voice of entrepreneurs and certainly as a woman.

Inside -- so it's just awesome.

Yeah -- first one correct.

-- the first high and yet I have up it will contract I -- -- you know large.

-- -- I have to tell you mean I was listening to some of the staff that you're talking about as bad about sort of the global economic decline and I'm so excited -- to talk to you about women and certainly have this.

Opportunity to do it I'm doing here at Dell because I think you have written women really are one MP key secrets to getting our global economy turned around.

There's a lot of positive news around that it says that's the good thing.

OK so -- -- women of the positive right now and trying to turn the economy around explain that.

Well I think if you look at the greatest statistics of women in general I mean what.

Women are expecting to grow their businesses from the research that we've done in the research that we've explored.

Women are expecting to grow their own businesses by about fifty percentile -- over the year mean if you look at the GDP.

The GDP of women run businesses right now we generate about thirteen trillion dollars.

We expect that to grow to eighteen trillion dollars that.

Five trillion dollar increase generated again by the women.

That's more than China.

And India combined in terms of their GDP so there's a lot of growth happening and I think at one of the really exciting things for me and certainly for us here at -- Is to be a part of empowering women to be successful in business because.

I think we're really seeing a trend in general that women are really viewing themselves as.

Economic contributors.

As visionaries as leaders and so they're getting out there and they're becoming entrepreneurs.

And they're building these companies that are creating the job -- why's this happening now.

Why now.

Well I think -- number of different answers to that I mean you know one of the the easy ways to answer that is because the economy is in fact where -- sat.

I think a lot of people have become -- there are certainly women have become entrepreneurs.

Because it's almost one of those things that we have to do that we can look at the statistics that weigh -- look at the facts of women jumping into the economy because of that.

But I think again outside of that really more from a philosophical standpoint.

Is that this conversation around the glass ceiling I know that people still continue to like to talk about it.

But it can't even today it really doesn't exist like it did before -- You know I think he last -- that glass ceiling conversation is one of those things that.

It's it's just not -- conversation that women.

Tend to find themselves talking about as much anymore.

Just it has to be -- about it -- -- says that it's still there in the sense that you have to a disgusted but then be -- try to deny it a little -- says so I get that.

Come -- -- yeah exactly all this blogging and social media and everything that we're seeing on the Internet as it pertains to your typical women fields of that stand in beauty.

And shopping in commerce you think that's one that's very important -- fueling these women owned businesses.

Did you Sam sorry that's what you -- -- -- fueling these yes.

Just in women's interests and their ability to do more on the Internet right now.

-- still in the uptick in entrepreneurial it.

And that we're seeing among women.

-- right world were -- question.

Yeah I mean I I love the question because I I do think that.

When he talked about at passion being a core driver of why anyone the -- and -- American.

It you know passion and persistence of the two things that.

Drive entrepreneurs to be successful in anything that they do so certainly your point about fashion and music and all of that and style.

That's important but I think it can what you're seeing is a real shift.

It of women in stand science technology engineering and -- -- you're seeing women take on a lot of other opportunities.

-- my final two questions for you we have about a minute left would be dollars and women one business different from a male run business that's the first question.

And second lines would be where's the money coming from this.

-- questions first of odd questions that we love the guys out there they got about a tremendous job building their companies for.

Years and years and years -- year is.

We're really excited to say that you know women really does tend to have a different style I mean at the end of the day business is business and so everything's based on.

Results and facts and all of that.

But wind ten to be.

Collaborators.

They wanted communicate they want to leverage there networks are more.

Affectively I think -- even necessarily we've seen the guys settle that they've done a great job but doing that out on the golf course and yet so we all share that.

Seventy into your question about where the -- -- from.

Actually one of the most fascinating statistics to me is that close to 50%.

Of where women generate the money that they need to run their business says.

Is actually self generated.

The reason that that is so exciting to me because -- say they lifelong entrepreneur and being an art for nurseries venture capital.

Angel.

Investments -- all kinds of different money I love the fact that women are really standing back insane.

What can I do alone by myself -- -- myself.

To build a company that doesn't necessarily was rely on the capital other people.

And any average cost head says start run a business for women is about 20000 dollars.

Right 20008 you so much Ingrid and if we can you show our viewers right now family members 34%.

Of funding sources banks and credit unions -- percent friends pick up the rest of the slack.

And if you want more information about the -- entrepreneur program here's a website.

And Ingrid we think you so much bird for joining us and -- giving us that perspective and and shown me that on a much better indicator than my husbands are right.
