Court may have ruled that they may not have the final say the house expected to -- to repeal obamacare on July 11.
Joining me now one of the house's biggest opponents of the health care -- Republican congressman Steve king of Iowa.
Congressman welcome back to the show it's always great to have you here does it matter though with the house brings this up again repealed because you know the senate -- not gonna go along with it.
Well it does matter and I think it mattered when we pass the repeal legislation earlier this 112 congress.
And this sending this message out in mid July in the -- that it is that's a statement boldly and strongly from our leadership speaker Boehner from Eric Cantor.
And -- something I want to see done.
Because it sends a message to America we have ended up passing legislation moving pieces here and there this is a resounding message for -- -- 100 -- I -- I think people are aware of the GOP's dissension on this that's for sure that's the stage for November you're saying -- he sat down tonight which I thought was so interesting that.
This is really about the limits of federal power at this point what can the government not do they could force you to buy.
I'll say you know I don't know what it is that the government can't do now I think that this Supreme Court -- conferred powers on the congress that we didn't imagine we have only got up this morning.
And effort to avoid expanding the commerce clause in the constitution to to swallow all the enumerated powers.
-- conferring mr.
deferring to -- as a taxation power now let's take -- the government coercive.
People in this country to buy a product that they would -- now.
Congress has the authority for -- Supreme Court to direct people to buy insurance -- if policy if not here comes the IRS to collect interest and -- -- that -- is a great question.
Of course all this stuff I mean what is the bureaucracy that goes after people that they that mandates slash tax.
It's somebody knocking at my door I just can't imagine that the federal government.
Has the muscle.
To make Americans go along you know it's it's envisioned -- and obamacare -- create 151000 new IRS agents.
And so that's one of the ways that they enforce -- suggest instead let's go ahead and just.
Repeal the income tax and the sixteenth amendment that's one way to avoid this this congress doesn't know yet how much power has been.
Best city -- -- now granted to it today by this decision by this Roberts court.
And it seems odd to me to see the name Roberts there with.
Breyer Kagan sort of -- here with an interesting mix injustices that's for sure exactly about congressional power you guys certainly exercise on this afternoon.
I was held Eric Holder the attorney general and attempts.
-- called -- comments afterwards the people who voted against him crap so what do you say.
We've won the argument.
He's down to this last argument of name calling we won the argument -- -- -- -- with the American people.
And then I think that's true if you look at the polling out there this need to be debated they could end of this more than a year ago.
And a couple of days ago -- -- negotiations in the White House is set a box of information on the table and said take that and in your investigation.
One -- our house negotiators said no they took the box off the table and since our you don't get -- they showed them the evidence at least.
Negatively -- what it is that we've been asking how -- all along.
Congressman what next though because essentially what happens.
Is this now gets hit gets kicked back to a US attorney who works for -- his -- Eric Holder what's the likelihood that anything happens while.
I had this deja Vu feeling went missing -- -- -- when they asserted executive privileges a week ago.
And it was within three days of the Watergate break in the fortieth anniversary of the Watergate break -- There's a lot of sense of the rhythm of this being a similar thing if you remember Richard Nixon -- -- executive privilege.
And essentially confirmed that things went on inside the White House I think that's what the American people need to.
Very different case is now one was about this appropriation political -- in line this is about.
And an agent of the federal government getting killed something very different this is bigger in my opinion substantially bigger the Watergate was a break in the -- -- -- Nixon's analogy was about to cover up.
We don't know whether the executive privileges about a cover up or whether it's about the operations themselves.
And I'll tell you I believe that -- was information that was provided for the president's -- I don't know if you saw.
I think we'll find it was proud of for the president's on the way to go before we know whether that's your -- -- -- thank you for coming on tonight it's always a pleasure to speak to you -- -- -- myself.
