Qualcomm is kicking off its annual uplink developers conference in San Diego so what's new from the chipmaker we want to find out your body -- he joins us with a special guest.

Hi -- and thanks libel we are very pleased to be joined by the CEO.

Biggest mobile chip maker in the world the CEO of Qualcomm doctor Paul Jacobs is great this year again Paul.

Good to see it there thanks for having me and let's start things off by talking about the news of the day this ruling on the health care a lot.

-- how does affect you as a CEO -- tax Payer and an employee here a more than 171000 people out there.

So we've always had a very good health care program for employees really covering.

All of their costs and so.

For us there have been some impacts we've had to reduce some of the benefits that we had.

But really you know we've been very good health care provider.

On the other side on the business side what we're very interested in is the opportunity now.

To build technologies that help improve the efficiency.

And productivity of the health care system and we really believe that.

Wireless can do that I -- can help manage chronic conditions that can help people.

Managed care for elderly or for.

Young people -- can help expand health care to places where it's been hard to cover so.

We think that some of the provisions of the bill of the law.

Well and encourage use of to these new technologies.

You talk about new technologies and some of that new developments coming out at a company -- carry your mentioning as being one of those areas.

Another piece of news to come out of your company today is a restructuring of sorts to protect your patents give this some additional insight on this.

How much it's gonna cost what the upside is overall for the company for doing so.

But so really has negligible.

Cost or impact to.

Customers and and employs really formalizes.

A way of doing business where we had separated our licensing our chipset business from each other.

What it really does is we think in the future make it very clear to people in the open source community and other communities.

That when we are providing licenses to certain patents.

Those are clear and when we are not providing them that is also clear and that's what we're really trying to formalize there's no.

No pending thing that we are worried about.

And that really this is just for us to add an extra bit of caution and also to allow us to bring our products to market even quicker.

Because open sources become a more interest in part of the industry.

You it can't talk here I'd developers conference today out Paul and a lot of trends and ideas that you guys talk about there.

-- little bit too -- for the average person there -- whenever that trend is and on the -- seemed to live on and products that we will keep in our pockets and then and our and our in our purses.

In the coming years give us an idea of what we can expect in tablets and mobile phones based on what you guys are talking about today.

What we're gonna see some great stuff coming in -- computing space.

Over the next year then light always on always connected tablets for the full computing environment.

As one example world we are working very closely with Microsoft.

On there launch of the next version of windows which will run on mobile processors and so you're gonna have.

Computing be more like a Smart phone is always going to be there for you.

And you're not gonna have to wait to -- up -- way to connect it's just going to be working all the time so that's exciting.

And and there are a lot of -- technologies that we showed off things called augmented reality which allow you to merge.

Virtual objects with real objects and we showed that people using this for.

Shopping that they would go up to a display in a store point their camera added and all of a sudden they be able to see different versions of of clothing -- of shoes at.

Be able to buy things right there compare -- reviews.

This kind of stuff I think the emerging of the Internet and bring it into the physical world is something that though the trend that we'll see occurring over the next.

Say three to five years.

A blessing and a curse for mobile shop -- like myself Paul great to see you doctor Paul Jake heads -- CEO called come always good to have you on this program.

I think you --
