That's.
I was a -- -- rule on president Obama's sweeping health care overhaul on Thursday but our next guest says you no matter the decision there are way better ways to reform our health care system.
Joining us now you know a drink a director for the center of help policy studies at The Heritage Foundation you know I know you have.
-- -- great suggestions but let's first talk about the Thursday decision.
Does actually solve the uncertainty problem I mean in reality right congress can flip it can we can get a Republican House.
Senate and then all of a sudden they overturned the entire thing yet again.
We'll certainly the -- is just one step.
I think to longer certainty that we need the court may do one of three things it could be there uphold the whole lot so we're kind of -- a standstill -- the eight election.
It could strike down part of -- and then a court then that congress would have to decide whether.
Or if -- can actually move anything to repeal the rest of the -- or more likely it will just wait till the election again.
Or his -- down my entire life itself.
On -- that -- -- question is what we -- -- -- thirteen in a new administration in the new congress so.
There is still a lot of uncertainty and I think the Supreme Court well.
Well certainly does give us a little information may be all of it or maybe nine.
If that's the thing right hey hey -- I don't know how anybody or any company makes a business decision.
As an employer -- why hire as an insured UYA.
To how to -- prepare I mean I think this is this is going to keep weak economy influx for a very long time.
What I would say that even the best scenario is if the court just strikes the entire healthcare lie down.
Then at least I think businesses and people will -- okay the -- not going to going to affect in its current form.
-- if it's upheld but it still leaves more question about what to do next we do have an election coming up and I think the American people -- shown that they are.
Not a real fan of this health care law.
And so may -- the election will change kind of the future of where this country is going right so I think even if the court upholds golly stuff to wait till till November really to see what the real fate of the law will be in the long term rates as the ground -- on hold for a long time.
I know that there you have a -- different ideas on how to fix health -- right now but right now what is the biggest problem with our health -- system as far as you're concerned.
Well I think we have three major problems what are our health care entitlements we talk about dancing Europe and elsewhere.
Our country itself has unsustainable.
Requirements and payments that they're supposed to give out to the American people in Medicare and Medicaid.
That they promise but we certainly can't afford -- got to get the entitlement programs in health care under control.
The second thing is we have to recognize we're in a far more mobile workforce -- -- in the whole health care system today is focused on getting your health -- through the place of work.
What happens if you lose your job what happens if you -- work for employer doesn't offer health insurance we got to change the tax code.
To make that ought to make that work so individuals own their health care regardless of their job -- -- headquarters staff and -- And finally we need to have common sense insurance reforms so allow things like prostate borders of health insurance.
That allow people to actually buy health insurance keep it or change -- if they want without the penalties.
On detonate a cartoon in today's system.
-- hope everyone's listening and you know as we wait till Thursday everyone needs to be reminded come January 1 -- -- three point 8% tax on investment income.
And eight point 9% surtax on wage earners as well none of which we could afford right now Nina -- during -- thank you so much for being with us.
Thanks for having me are -- me is.
