Has never been more disconnected.

The public has never had less confidence in the underlying mechanism.

Well that's the CEO of the New York Stock Exchange -- -- -- Telling us what most of us already know Americans.

Lack trust and confidence in our stock exchanges.

And and -- number of other institutions as well.

A new Gallup study shows a crisis of confidence in this country one that is worsening across a wide array.

Of American institutions.

As the economy struggles continuously to recover confidence in business at least big business has plummeted.

21%.

Confident.

Confident in big business.

But it's a different story.

Because America is still pro business it's a different story for small small business in fact that the second highest level of trust among all America.

Or small business.

Banks however experiencing the biggest decline in confidence over the past three decades I wonder why.

Sinking to a record low -- 21%.

Again.

And that's just about half the historical average -- bank that's how much trouble we've gone through this country.

What are 1% also expressing confidence in labor unions think about that 121 perspective.

In labor unit.

Which ties the lower rankings of course both banks and big business and 41% are confident in our medical system.

-- eleven points Europe and the folks who want to repeal Obama care but only 19% like their HMO.

-- that is something to worry about because you have to get through another -- one other institution back to get lower them even in public schools.

Well they're suffering obviously given those plummeting test scores for students and our confidence in our public schools has fallen to a forty year low.

29% of us confident entrusting.

A public schools 29%.

Confidence in our churches and -- religion.

Faring better than most of the institutions.

It's still experiencing -- 4% decline just this year to a record low of 44%.

And not surprisingly competence of our three branches -- government.

Waning a bit over the course of this election year in these difficult times 37%.

Though however are still confident in both the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court of the United States and the president of the United States.

They -- Congress is a different story.

Only a -- as well in fact this.

This is ugly for congress 13%.

In the Gallup poll 13%.

With confidence.

And congress.

The good news is.

We still trust our police department.

We still -- law enforcement and our military 56%.

56%.

Confidence in the police.

Second -- and the highest.

And our military our troops.

75%.

That's that's pretty good.

It's just a sad.

Sad state of affairs for the country that these institutions have fallen so far in the public trust.
