-- -- So Microsoft is getting ready to unveil what hopes will be an iPad killer but will be able to make a -- in apple strongholds of the tablet markets.
Joining me now is Roger Kay founder at endpoint technologies.
So Roger is it -- for sure tablet give any doubt.
-- -- Nobody knows anything for sure but tell all the Smart money is thought it is the tablet and it's gonna run windows state -- which is their version.
The runs on an arm processor so that's you know as far as people will go yeah -- sources today that debunks some rumors are ready but.
It's still up for grabs there's a lot of mysteries about this -- -- like Y 330 in the afternoon West Coast -- YLA.
You know those are little clues you know what -- -- you know who is coming to market -- starting their business -- he had.
330 in the afternoon west Coast Guard is that the Chinese -- early morning for -- -- is not a you know Chinese.
So it's LA there's probably a content deal in the -- -- which conscious you know company -- it.
So there's -- -- -- the kind of pieces that we have and Microsoft has just been incredibly mysterious about this.
At Carolina and so saw some of those mysteries parts first about what is your back on why do you think they are doing at that time is a country.
So.
Yeah I mean last Thursday they put out a note that come to LAB -- we won't tell you which hotel even.
We're gonna -- to book airfare Blackwell got I don't people who -- doing it.
There are people -- body -- placed him there I'm going I don't know where I'm going bottom dollar and and they're gonna shock whenever Microsoft tells them what you -- sometime in mid day where it is.
And then they get to go there's a big mystery and it's probably gonna be attack ads -- I'm assuming it's -- -- be general purpose.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- So it's really a direct competitor to iPad Microsoft says right we need to control -- whole experience soup to nuts.
Been -- to control equality -- get kind of an apple like experienced otherwise there's no hope of it.
Meanwhile most of its OEM customers are thinking about making tablets themselves with windows -- -- -- what -- -- -- this of Microsoft competing.
With its customers so then you know couple kind of sense does that make well it's a new category well it's not really new category.
And I think you have the example of Brazil which is -- hardware that was unsuccessful.
And -- you have the example of Xbox-360 which is Microsoft partner.
Hardware that was successful -- -- well you know which is that -- oh by the way the OEMs weren't in the game console business literally lose anything there frankly this is their main market though they sell PCs they -- -- tablet they'd like -- But -- -- -- about they just I.
IE you know struck this strategic partnership with Barnes & Noble white did just by the -- and use that.
Well you think so but I I think the issue with e-book distribution is -- sort of a limited play Microsoft is looking for the broad platform it just could go anywhere and.
You couldn't greatly been looking urgently need a bigger -- -- that's not possibly could make it into a bigger tablet make it into -- -- product in that at least you -- -- clap or you have something.
That people ostensibly -- you know that.
Now.
Well I'm I'm stuck -- I'm skeptical that the avenue in I think they've placed a bet on Barnes & Noble for other reasons and it's -- related to this.
To this particular announcement I think this is there there -- you know.
Companies like Microsoft often make what's called a reference design which is here's how we'd like you -- to make yet but we're gonna license it to you and we don't intend to sell a whole lot of these.
That's a different saving you know right now you've got Google doing that kind of more role already bought Motorola hardware -- sort of using Motorola's hardware group.
To create reference designs for Google partners at least that's Google's story about it.
So this is the wave -- -- our company tries to talk to its hardware partners to keep them engaged at the same time as potentially reaching downstream and taking -- -- -- their business away so.
We'll see how this goes.
Interesting all right Roger K thanks so much.
