-- former Reagan EPA assistant administrator.

And president of the fuel Freedom Foundation -- to have you with us -- -- -- -- here.

You that -- -- your thoughts on these new EPA regulations.

-- -- Friday you know well.

-- been away from the whole regulatory thing for quite awhile but I don't think it's a couple things about the regulations.

So they will be.

They would they have benefits but they have cost the so no question about that.

A number of areas in the country will be out of attainment.

With the PM 2.5 regulation.

States that have to come into attainment.

And that means more regulation on sources Iran right now listening you -- they're going to be out of attainment program after commander regulation scratching their heads like I'm thinking you know what.

This just sounds like some more bolt from the EPA I don't know that it's worth -- -- Because the EPA.

I mean that they are out of control as far as most Americans are sure.

Carrier's plain -- water is -- Things have never been better and they keep squeeze.

Well.

That PM 2.5 does have health consequences.

But let me tell the kind of the interest -- -- about this it's very more problematic than you might think.

-- states this state is not American I'm gonna do this cause I wanna get to energy independence tell -- real -- Well this is.

States come into attainment of this program.

Only have in their toolkit to go after stationary sources factories.

The biggest part of this problem is.

Fuel from mobile sources from trucks.

And cars in the answer for energy independence actually -- very nicely into this.

Because clean cheap abundant fuels that we have in America.

Can replace gasoline and lower.

PM -- -- and 2.5.

A -- so natural gas.

Ethanol even methanol.

Those all have less than the precursors.

That lead to this PM 2.5 -- the states can't control that.

You've got states then control it we can't control the EPA of we've got a president that's out who's out of control here's the deal.

I know Smart guys like Q.

Wanting to get us into a different place in transportation.

You look at the energy issue as one as between power generation and transportation.

How are we gonna get there.

Looking at the transportation part of this.

Which does connect to the EPA regulation looking at the transportation part of -- You can convert existing vehicles.

For a very low amount of money.

-- run on either natural gas or methanol which is a liquid fuel which comes cheaply.

From the vast amount of natural gas that we have available now.

-- it reason you can't do that is because of regulatory impediments.

Not necessarily malicious -- just the fact why don't care whether malicious or about that as your return yet there is primarily ignorant and -- -- you what you do achieved you go to he did say look let's.

Figure out ways to make this abundant.

Fuel available in cars and it's cheaper about a power generation.

Power generation -- -- separate issue from what we are that's right Freedom Foundation but.

But that the answer there is is you have to look at so how do you how do you.

Get electrical power electricity to your house that's right the the big issue.

And and 40% of that is coal right now and we -- an EPA that doesn't seem to be too interested in.

Divining any direction in terms of technology to make our -- -- there isn't beyond cold the question is is there beyond gasoline that's cheaper cleaner.

That's that's where we need to get our -- did complain we're gonna continue this conversation I hope your comeback.

Let's have a series of these talks and and -- -- straight up.

Well thanks a lot that you very much thanks to our -- -- -- common right back and when we.
