Government taking away your freedom that's the issue -- New York City where mayor Michael Bloomberg he wants to ban supersize so that's.

Now the band could come to your neck of the woods next because officials around the country are looking at this idea to.

And there is news tonight New York city's board of health voted to move forward with a proposal.

But the idea has critics.

In an open letter in today's news that papers including the New York Post the CEO of the company called soda strain Daniel -- bomb took a swipe at Bloomberg.

New York burned -- -- Bob -- it doesn't mean this legislation let the people choose.

Dana Birnbaum is on the -- now -- stream of course is a make it home soda.

-- company -- thanks for joining us tonight has Michael Bloomberg lost his mind has seen just gone too far.

Well no I don't think site I think he's he's gone to a very important issue.

-- what he's trying to do here really in my opinion of the public awareness campaign mission is really not what sort of band.

Because even if the proposed legislation does happen I I really don't think it will in the end it has no -- I -- what next you can't do it second serving of apple pie.

Government cannot prevent you from having his second bite the apple pie and they can't prevent -- more so it.

-- apparently Michael Bloomberg -- government can do that I mean at the end of the day that's what he's suggesting no more apple pie no more soda.

This seems to me and I could be Iran an assault on free individual freedom and choice when you make -- Well let the government but he does he does have the a pattern of going after soda.

To combat obesity right he tried in the pastor restrict the use of food stamps are still it and that he -- the tax.

And go to -- passed in 2010 they'll but he ten point one -- -- issues with it.

Is -- that you tend to cluster also got together as evil.

And that's not the case because not all soda it's created equal -- -- different solutions and the consumer needs to be empowered to choose which way they wanna go.

Well I want to ask you about your company and -- seconds before I do you say not -- -- is created equal.

Right and my response to that if I wanna be able to choose whatever I want if I want sixteen ounces -- -- -- four ounces.

What -- is I want I think I should be able to order that I think it -- in New York City should be able to sell that to me.

And you've probably heard this before in it.

In the State of New York governor here is suggesting.

That fines for people who hold on the marijuana and small amounts that fine would be lower than the fine for people who sell sixteen ounce soda.

This to me in the we're entering a very weird world and date.

What what -- keep in mind.

Bloomberg has gotta be desperate for a solution.

Around -- obesity issue this statistics are really bad -- they have the most recent statistics show.

That now have.

Half of the New York adult.

Are overweight or.

Government's job though -- come -- now.

I think nobody -- know nonchalance in -- I'm not defending -- I really completely disagree with the with the regulatory approach were all about free choice but I do understand that obesity is.

Is a major issue but there's other -- -- aggressive and -- just looking at what's going on in municipalities around the world.

You know there's so much to learn from them they're educating their consumers about alternative solutions are providing.

Free.

I'm not hardly -- and -- and we already require that there be information about sodas in calories on each and every label.

I would ask you though about your business because you -- -- business model around that how is business for your company and and tell us a little bit about what you do you.

Well what we do as we transform tap water into sparkling water at home and second.

We provide help your alternative to -- orders are to exert less calories and -- that it regular flavors that we -- you know when we don't need that pertains.

And as a matter of policy we do not use high fructose corn here.

So you know you can get a better solution and you can -- more convenient you don't carry.

It's much better trillion partly because we unity usable bottle that future thousands of.

Can't equivalent.

He also state money.

So we completely -- is disruptive approach to the soda category.

Business is doing great were up 50% for the first quarter of this year where 43 countries around the world and in the US.
