The iPad the iPhone -- devices.

Are they help or hindrance to small businesses in transforming companies would data Menendez joining us.

He is a VP of marketing and product strategy at harmony and David thanks so much for joining us here.

And and let's jump right and I mean -- How do you decide when these devices are are a distraction or if there helping your company.

Well there -- distraction if they're not.

Being used in a way that's that the people need to get access to applications and hugely documents and people -- people need most to get access to.

So it becomes a distraction -- they're doing other stuff for when they have multiple applications they have to hop around to to get things done find contact information one.

And paste copy and paste into another application.

That's what causes it to be a distraction.

Now is -- what you would suggest to business owners to.

To create a strategy to that you are using them in you and they have a purpose as opposed to people who just right so they're -- right so aren't what harmonies all of that is really about.

Getting -- typical business user to be able to collaborate.

Using the tools -- companies -- you have in the strategy is very simple.

It's bring the collaboration.

Tools into the places where people spend their -- -- like email and mobile devices like the iPad.

So that they don't have to start hopping around it's right in front of them wherever there -- in India with.

-- hotspots Wi-Fi hotspots have much more prevalent these days of -- -- sometimes funny and outlook could be.

A lot of interest here but is picking on you say.

Workers are turning to unconventional places and in airports being one of them announced talk about hard to find an -- on New Zealand France find every available on.

Restaurants airports bedrooms.

You're finding more more people or or are able to continue working for better for worse depending on your point of view but -- using these devices if there used correctly.

Well what we found lead in our recent survey was that people resorts to having to work in these places because they're not being productive and efficient with the tools -- -- have.

The survey that we we did finds that 84% of people say they're not productive and therefore they're per finishing presentations the minute before they go on.

There working at the beach there working at the kids recitals they're working 14% of our survey actually said that they.

Admit to hope working on documents and public restrooms if you can believe that felt so collected they -- to -- -- to be more productive to avoid having.

To view that right so wave that is the the correct strategy is that if they have the tools like like our.

What that allows people to do is actually to work within the confines.

That the tools -- the company's provided them with like Microsoft SharePoint with most companies have.

Is a way to actually access those tools and not have to hop around not have to work on local copies of documents because they can't get -- copies of everybody else is working.

So -- -- there's more more companies began to access the cloud is soon going to -- -- -- this should in theory increase productivity but yet many people are being extremely productive anyway and in part is some people may argue that.

You know it's because the labor force seems to be fairly stagnant at the moment that they are.

Working at their kids recitals are in restrooms of airports like.

What part of the problem is that they're doing that because they don't have access to the latest documents often so people in the office may be working on a document.

And then this person going out to do presentation and they don't have access to what the latest -- doing so -- Have to scramble and an update what they have on their local -- local plant.

So you're saying it did by upgrading maybe -- laptops -- the ipad's then you can sort of who's there are -- it can boost the productivity of the company what they create a unified.

Collaboration environment where they whether or the from the iPad the desktop and cloud.

They have the same access the same documents that are centrally stored in the cloud or on premise.

Then they become much more productive and that's that's what we do.

And what about the iPad you mention it you know and of course the Big Apple developers conference on this week is on his on going.

It's sort of came out of nowhere mean that there when it was first introduced remember Steve Jobs and show him like while looks really cool but.

What what you needed -- and now you're finding that.

More people can't live without it in the office which -- -- the people who use it primarily to -- and to read.

-- huge transit.

Called BYOD bring your own device to work.

In the enterprise for people are bringing their their ipads also Smartphones.

And companies are supporting personally purchase devices.

And they need access to that are to their work from that and that's that's a big -- big opportunity in a big trend.

Now with this if you are perceive yourself there any tax advantages to that for for -- individuals.

I don't know who don't know and -- data out of curiosity and Agassi beat me.

Maybe difficult to prove that you're using your iPad mostly for work but I guess that's we call -- the IRS.

Knowing when you working with with companies you're talking to these these business travelers.

Busy to let the iPad is it -- down to an iPad vs a laptop world is an iPad -- addition to a laptop now what are you finding I think for the most part it's becoming an iPad plus the laptop certainly at this point the access from the iPad is just not.

There yet.

So that people don't have the same comfortable access to be able to access documents.

Be able to edit documents be able to access.

Went conference video conference with people like they do from the laptops so we find people using.

Laptops using -- has also using Smartphones and eventually it's going to be possibly the clouds that's been multiple devices.

And people want to get the same access moreover there receivable have follow wondering if in both hands that.

Where can politically at least one in each hand picked if yeah exactly David -- -- is VP of marketing products that he thinks so much for joining us from harmony.
