Hello everyone I'm Gerri Willis.

Florida's fight over -- voter fraud is going to court to try to remove a road block.

The federal government the Fed's demanding Florida stop its voter roll purge.

Now the move comes after the sunshine state requested use of uncle Sam's database to weed out non citizens felons.

Even dead people Republican governor Rick Scott of Florida is defending the -- -- to -- Department of Homeland Security for access.

I spoke to the governor earlier on why this issue is worth defending.

Well look my job as governor is to enforce a -- -- land part of the law.

Is that EU as a Florida citizen -- US citizens I don't want it to your vote to be deluded people that are not a citizen don't have a right to vote.

So we had -- we did a small sample.

And we found that.

That its -- suitable that people are vote in our state that don't have right to vote and they're registered to vote that don't have right to vote.

My job missing for so long we've been asking for nine months for this database from nine Department of Homeland Security.

Which would allow us the best available data to know -- is a who has a right to vote in our state.

-- for whatever is elected not to give it to us I still hope we can work with down so today the did this afternoon the Florida Department of State.

Will be suing the federal department Homeland Security.

For access that database we have a right to the database -- it says in the law that is that we can use it for voter registration.

And the the federal government has been denying you this information.

When you're trying to do is essentially scrub the Florida.

Voter lists.

For people who -- shouldn't shouldn't be voting.

Now it's been highly controversy -- in your state and as a matter of fact some critics have said that you're treating legitimate voters as criminals.

What would you say to that.

The united.

Not one person that has a right to vote has been that I -- off the voter rolls not at all.

It's a simple process.

We took a small database and we see the -- give -- to supervisor of elections.

-- they send it out and said you've got thirty days to respond.

I stay out.

If they didn't respond then because in the newspaper.

Even then if they were taken off the voter rolls and they show up at the out on Election Day.

They get to -- -- Provisional ballots so.

But not one person has been kicked off the voter rolls a has a right to vote no one.

But you know what we have non US citizens that we -- -- should the vote and we know have voted that's wrong it's a crime.

It's not right I went on -- fair elections in our state.

And of course is is it really about illegal immigration and illegal immigrants voting in our elections when they should not be allowed to -- That seems to be had at the heart of add to your issue is who's voting and should they be allowed to vote.

Yeah it's about non citizens.

Registering to vote in our state -- in billion our elections are they don't have a right it's a lose somebody else's that an -- and what does this questions you started with a small sample it's what you said.

And as I and -- expanded if I have this correct it was less than 3000 people.

Hughes whose background was taking it taking a look at.

And only some forty were found to be.

Nine citizens.

Do you think this is so widespread problem I mean why is this registering on your radar right now.

Your critics are saying that in fact you know it's election time Florida's a swing -- how do you respond.

What we started this we started this last year.

And we start asking for the database from the Department of Homeland Security which -- made it easy to do this.

When -- they kept stalling and stalling stalling so we use our own department of motor vehicle.

And and disrupted -- and we send it out to these supervised elections.

At the end of April what we found so far is 86 people.

That.

Or -- vote that shouldn't they were non US citizens 46 that in voted.

As you know elections get decided by a few votes sometimes so it's wrong it's a crime I want I don't want any Florida -- that has a right to vote.

Their -- deluded by somebody that doesn't have a right to vote in non US citizen voting.

This is not a partisan issue it's not Republican Democrat independent issue it's the law Florida.

And we should enforce the laws of our state -- and the law already -- your bloggers you're sitting -- thought.
