Unemployment at eight point 2% it is hard to believe that there -- job openings just going -- out there but there are literally millions of jobs.

Waiting to be filled right now employers say.

They can't find the -- folks to hire.

Our next guest has seen that situation up close -- probably.

President and CEO Kelly services and he joins me now thank you so much for joining us today Karl.

Thank you for have been -- Some weekend air news before and I've seen you -- online saying that there are millions of jobs out there that can't find the right applicants what is the mismatch how is that possible.

When we have so many people out there looking for work.

We don't have the training and place I throughout the high school level work the college level to produce the workers that the American economy needs.

Very specifically there is a large group of technicians that we need ranging from machinists and so on who.

The average machinist and some of these openings would make more than a 100000 dollars a year were not producing them.

And on the other side nowhere near the number of science test IT professionals.

There is a big mismatch between what we're training students to do and the jobs that are available.

Why do you think that is our parents not encouraging their kids to do this are -- -- the school's not set off to attract and train this type of person out of this happen.

-- the highest global weekend at a lot of the technical training that took place that was viewed as tracking students or perhaps profiling students in a way.

That was taken away from college instead of recognizing.

Not everybody should go to college there's a great number of jobs that don't require a four year college -- technical training yes.

Below those programs were ended -- the high schools.

And unlike other countries we don't provide economic incentives for people to go into areas that the country needs we give the same degree of financial support.

Regardless of your major many other countries think of differential support to the types of skills that the country needs.

So if you order redesign the system to fill these jobs and we what kind of or you were to tell my kids for example what to -- study to fill these jobs.

What would you say they should do what you focus on is it.

Computer is as it what is it.

I would say right now the country needs specifically skilled individuals and much greater numbers -- we're producing from the manufacturing -- in particular is this country is going through a small boomlet in manufacturing employment.

We can be doing much better -- technically trained individuals.

And mechanical engineering and electrical engineering and machinist areas.

Certainly if you look at where jobs are being created in the future that's going to be with -- and science skills and I would hope people who have very science story technical bent.

Go for it take all the courses -- -- there's going to be a high demand in the future.

Yet I mean that's sort of my next question if you're an adult -- -- homer right now who's out of work is it hopeless I mean -- you eat it there's a lot of training involved in these jobs.

You know it's not hopeless but it still think that the old jobs that used to pay a middle class wage without having these this technical training and are going to come back in great numbers probably isn't true.

Manufacturing jobs are coming back with the tend to either be at the very low into the pay scale -- the very idea and what's not going to be the case is that we're gonna have large numbers factory jobs.

That don't require that type of technical trading.

Is -- hopeless no loss of the Community Colleges in particular are gearing up quickly to provide the jobs that are needed by industries and their locale.

And I would urge people as part of the retraining program to look at what the Community Colleges have and to try to -- the training to what jobs are -- Brooklyn before you go there to fed economists -- -- recently at Chicago's saying they blamed recruiting intensity.

Saying that companies I just are trying very hard to fill -- saying -- somebody that toxic companies every day.

We're looking for workers do you believe what these fed economists are saying.

No I think that companies are trying very hard to fill jobs they are getting picked here at this point in the economy.

Because -- types of skills they -- -- they've more technically difficult local than they weren't even just three to four years ago.

What probably is true is that companies are looking to train workers today.

Because the intention of workers to stay with any particular employer is now down to a two to three year period and companies can't get a payback for that type of training.

-- think so much for coming on it is always a pleasure to have you here because you are right there are matching workers with employers and we need to know what's going on this is a huge problem this country right now we appreciate your insight.
