We're joined in studio -- -- -- are small business that expert with foxbusiness.com.

And -- you did a great story on how businesses can benefit from.

Disasters right yes -- rebuilding post disaster because there's so much focus with small business owners on preparing for the what it scenario it.

-- -- there insurance -- and if the disaster were hit natural disaster.

But -- insurance in the world won't bring your customers back in post disaster so that's our story for our protecting your small business series is on this week.

How to rebuild your business after the disaster -- taxation be prepared for it and then -- strategize after because its right yes two different strategies I spoke with some business owners who experience is -- firsthand as well as he lost in catastrophe.

Repair company that works with businesses after -- -- -- things came about so the first business I spoke with was actually located in Joplin Missouri.

This last year that last time it's almost a year ago he was hit.

Not hits store but his actual client these two miles worth of homes and businesses that he served with his business cartridge world today's sell printers and ink.

His name is Dan Harris and -- kind of walk me through what he did after the disaster of this storm was still standing but I think very smartly.

He went and targeted that people who we need ink and -- so he might assume most of the houses were damaged nearby obviously knock -- that I don't let me let -- print this out.

Yes okay he went to insurance companies because they're gonna have time -- claims which I think was very Smart -- and also he went to.

Different real estate agencies because they are going to be having on contracts for you know rebuilding houses and -- -- people relocating after this disaster when he said he went to -- called.

And he sought them out -- so he would did you know cold -- different businesses he also had a very active now -- which he would be blasting out he and his former customers let him know our doors are open and and also giving them different discounts like 30% off -- 50% off of and I.

And -- -- -- it's really you know what the -- he needed and he said his profits were stronger.

In the year after the disaster right what he did.

OK and makes a lot of sense -- he didn't he think he thought or did he say he thought about it happens scenarios.

Media at a time Lee -- kind of sad you know what I was saying to you earlier that you can prepare all you want for disaster that you don't know what exactly is going to happen in.

-- -- don't know how it's going to impact your community so you can have only entrance in the war happen by -- -- the climate where you -- -- -- that maybe the -- all the -- -- and then how you would tackle exactly you know exactly yes and I spoke with -- -- and she -- three Haagen -- stores and some of the first in New Orleans she was hit with Hurricane Katrina obviously she lost on -- source completely.

In the actual.

Sliding and then she lost and other into vandals after which is really hard on her and she said she and her husband -- the only got about 2000 dollars back from interns because.

That's necessary yet they said he -- your stores weren't damaged by actual her.

They were damaged in the after.

Right so they didn't -- much money from insurance but she -- -- she had -- email list ready and she said focusing on one store to rebuild is what got them -- that they didn't try and get all three stores back up and running because they -- would have -- -- seen her own funds basically -- -- axes one storm back up and running in and out of the customers management while they put signs up -- that the two stories that were damaged -- completely just you know not able to be -- instead we're still -- and we're still here to also blasted out again -- -- that important discount -- you those customers that.

They had in the past and she said that they really is kind of waited for the community come back and it hit anything.

After I'm actually she got it from my guess you know -- the united shipped and right elsewhere but and yes that was one one good tip from her and -- -- third place that is the fiscal -- clean so there are glossing catastrophe experts.

And so they would do well and yes that's what organization yet.

So they said to remember that businesses are what keep the community feeling normal after disaster -- yeah so the sooner you can open your doors and really let people familiar back up and running.

People flocked to you because they want that sense of normalcy after tax isn't -- times have been covering stories.

In places that.

I considered middle of nowhere you know them and -- driving around in just there's a lot of businesses that are closed sent yesterday and how often than it's -- it -- I wanna see there there you know.

So what he said to tell these in his -- to get up and running as soon as possible.

And also to watch out for -- so if you are going higher company here contractor.

Some type of a construction company to help you get your doors back up and -- Make sure that they are licensed professionals -- he says scams run rampant in the paper post disaster declaration yes yes of people could take what little money have laughed and just you know hit the ground running get out of there and you know on booze anymore money -- funds that you heard lots looking at any idea that so we're doing -- this protecting your small business series were just.

Talking all kinds of what if scenarios and how to bounce back soon turn hackers -- talked about pre disaster.

36 last week goes on with Robert -- -- about how to treat your interns in the do's and don't.

Hello hiring so -- that's a great line or hitting all different topics all over the -- -- That -- -- yeah I think he's so much for coming and you for having me writers -- this is -- our academy post disaster business come back.
