While Tim Cook didn't show any Apple's cards regarding future products of the all things digital conference there are -- heavy hitters yet to come.
Adam Shapiro's in Rancho palace -- California where the conference is taking place.
Talking to every one Adam -- with you now.
Well -- Jonathan Miller from News Corp.
Essentially CEO of digital media let's get right into this there was a time when people are designing.
Digital media video essentially for PCs but I have to think about doing it on -- small little devices -- -- people on planes and trains using our people coming aboard to do that.
Guess what it is a real sea change I think that you're talking about mobile it really.
And I think one of biggest -- changes is you have to think of mobile as not just an extension of the web IE taking what you have on the web and putting it over here.
But to your question designing for and I think the people that design the best for it will win and now that ranges from a Smartphone which is one screen size two tablets which is another screen size and lots of things in between so it's not just one is this a form factor.
Where one screen size you have to design and have to think about each of those different cases it's a more complicated world.
So so how do we had News Corp.
or other media companies continue to make money I noticed that one site actually does -- no longer allows you to skip the commercial.
You have to watch that 32 commercial is that the only way to raise revenue will we still make these kinds of profit.
It's well I think one of the things you have to do is just -- who you -- first and I think -- -- -- as News Corp.
We -- premium content supplier so what that means is we're not in tonnage we're not in the in the lowest common denominator we have to be about being great.
And that means everything from the news broadcasts that we make to the films and -- it shows we have to be great and that means we can charge advertisers.
Decent rates due to -- -- is associated with our contents.
And for great new experiences we can also charge consumers directly and and that we're seeing much more of that on the iPad for example we can -- subscription services.
A Hulu plus which were an investor -- -- is doing very very well in terms of new subs from watching television on any device.
So new services.
New forms of monetization and also.
Purpose built to how they're being seen.
And very quickly are you relieved that Tim Cook and apple have no interest in content production.
I'm always skeptical when I hear that from companies that seem to do a lot with content and have a hundred billion dollars in the bank.
But he did say that so let's let's take him at his word.
And I think that they feel their expertise is in making great devices and great platforms for content and what we feel we do best is make great content so in theory that's -- that's great for everybody.
You very Jon Miller thank you very much for joining -- we're gonna be here all day with more for you from.
Later this afternoon -- Steve Jobs.
While it looks beautiful Adam thanks.
