But I have the pleasure.
But introducing -- my favorite people to watch and to talk to in person in an -- there Martha MacCallum from the Fox News Channel.
Eight and now you guys already have me do we let we just.
But -- each other all the time and all right -- and it's great to be here with you this morning of learning there's a lot that went on.
Over the we editor Larry you know.
On any time the front page above the fold of the Wall Street Journal is about the situation in Syria and with the kill did killings over the weekend all the children who were who were killed as well.
There's a new this a new sense of urgency about the west doing something about saw the country -- so right about that it of course has been going on for over a year and 101000 people have lost their lives in Syria in this violence and it feels like.
We see it you know it in a clip -- -- a clip there and perhaps the most potent and horrific thing about this most recent telling.
Are these 32 children and perhaps the loss of their lives is what finally brings -- screaming to the attention of so many.
Americans and that is the problem is that we've been so focused on our own problems which is understandable we've had and we've had -- extremely tough economy over the past couple of years but that this is an issue that -- -- this raises the question what is America about who our way.
Are we willing to stand by.
And watches happen I have had stories sent to me by people who's been spending -- spent time in Damascus Bhutto family's there.
Who have watched that dissolution up -- -- in the disappearance of family members that is absolutely horrific so.
It really brings it to the forefront in a way that -- Hillary Clinton can ignore.
I don't think President Obama can ignore and clearly Mitt Romney has chosen to make a statement about it over over the weekend -- what.
-- the next steps for us you think because there is so much attention turned to Russia -- and and Russia being a supporter of -- the Assad regime.
Did it I mean is there any hope that Russia puts pressure I mean the reality is that that to confront the situation in essence is to confront Russia.
And Russia has made noises this morning over the weekend about being against what happened but the fact is that Russia supplies.
Military arms to Syria and now there's a lot of talk from Bibi Netanyahu this morning that that Iran does as well so in taking on this issue we are clearly confronting.
Iran which is which is clearly an enemy of the United States that -- no bones about that and Russia which has been a very tricky relationship for.
You know for decades -- truly with the United States but it was -- they aren't.
Whose side are they gotten and the problem that we have been able to have tougher sanctions against Syria in the Security Council is because.
We can't get the cooperation of Russia primarily and also China's -- so it it it puts us in a very it was President Obama frankly in a situation where.
If you make this decision to going to Libya.
What do you do and -- if if that policy if that was stopping a humanitarian disaster that was imminent that's we're told.
This is not imminent that this is playing out right if I'm having right past how I don't know I don't know high -- of course it is it and it.
Very tough question what do you -- and you -- it and not to sound shallow that you can ignore the fact that we are an election year.
And how that potentially.
If something does happen with Syria on -- -- How that changes.
What happens in November.
I mean again you -- Mitt -- statement of the weekend absolutely hating it Mitt Romney of course it's easier way and the position of you know going up against an incumbent to say that we're not being tough enough.
And that US strength is the strongest force in the world.
Mitt Romney -- very strongly -- this horrific act Hillary Clinton came out.
Less strongly in her language you know she's she's the diplomat she's been working the situation for a long time.
But it does raise some very serious questions about as I said about who we -- what and -- and what we're prepared to jail.
And it's going to be a top issue -- talk about.
What was -- over the weekend Memorial Day obviously have President Obama and and Mitt Romney making a statement trying to appeal to the veterans of the nation.
And the president talked about the rising -- in the list of war looked in the cloud of -- -- -- And putting that behind us he wants to put Iraq and Afghanistan behind us that has been part of his.
His mission since he took office so to begin another front.
-- as you're saying in in the middle of this election period.
Is going to be tough question for him -- a hard turn it do you think it becomes unavoidable making decisions.
I think you know -- already -- I think I preparing us for the fact that some action.
It made it is unavoidable what what kind of action it will be whether it's drone strikes.
How you go after this enemy in Syria is.
It is a tricky thing.
You know if you can get targeted drone strikes on weapons areas and try to prevent their ability to it wants -- kind of attacks.
With the cooperation of our allies and that seems that the strongest most and reasonable way to go out and another thing -- to bring him back here and we have the jobs report coming out on Friday and mean you expected to see 155000.
Unemployment rate is still you know last -- still above 8%.
But it seemed nevertheless -- gas prices have come down at least enough that it might help president.
It is certainly cut I should -- daily -- the -- but we'll not quite as bad as it wasn't a month or so about.
And you know I think for most Americans the focus will remain in their pocketbooks -- as you are now and we get these jobs numbers and -- -- -- going on in Europe.
I mean what is the outlook we do we do we feel another debt maturing.
Now and November I think -- American -- just starting to turn their attention to this election.
Just starting to think about point about this in NASA -- the backed up that that we see across the country in in August and September.
I think that paints a picture that most people have their minds when they step into that Martha thanks for being here think de SA measured -- -- -- eleven on fox this and a fantastic job and I -- -- I love you the best -- give mom my vast amounts for having me thank you policies and.
