Of annual revenue at Volvo group here we're gonna be joined by the president of Mack trucks Kevin clarity to talk.
A little bit more about Mac and Volvo trucks and invested some three quarters of a billion dollars.
From that group over the past decade or so -- Kevin thanks for joining us here on Fox Business.
Talk to us a little bit a balance.
Who is buying right now do you see a continued uptick.
In trucks who's buying them and what sort of up to do expect this year after 34% gain for the truck group last year.
Here right now what we're seeing is a lot of the over the roadside.
Purchases of trucks.
There's a lot of -- being move right now and that would be the ones right behind you it would be right here yes.
As opposed to the dump truck that I was in and that's -- spot right now with the housing construction being what it is.
We're really seeing our numbers drop a little bit because the housing.
And not enough infrastructure work underway.
So you're seeing more of these sort of the the freight liners or shippers buying up as opposed to construction companies -- Due to the weakness still in housing and and residential commercial and commercial.
I would imagine a construction you know we are because you know right now.
They're not warehousing everything is getting moves there's no inventories right now -- of the way we wanna see it as a as a as a company.
As a country to keep moving the freight and not have inventories build up.
And a talk about inventories but one thing you are seeing is that said the upgrade cycle we've seen this with autos with General Motors -- are all there are a lot of companies people are put off buying.
And so they have to replace are you seeing a similar a -- going on with the trucks right now yeah very true and fact.
Right now oh there's a lot of urge a lot of the demand for trucks right now because of the fuel efficiency.
Customers out of an out of the business and -- by -- for a number of years.
Now kind of forced to come back in the trucks are selfish in the -- is so efficient right now we're seeing an uptick conduct our Persian tip that sweet spot on fuel economy.
Now Mack truck subsequent essential American I mention -- -- -- for New York brand.
You're one of the few that builds exclusively in the US in fact the only one why don't you build outside the US or maybe it makes economic sense for other companies but you still don't -- -- -- -- point of pride that you don't -- outside the US well I I I -- of the pride.
You know I think about the Mac truck company started in 19100.
And we -- -- Pennsylvania 1906 from New York.
My way of putting it is we export -- trucks not jobs.
And -- Mack truck.
Should be built in the US and -- speak of jobs you're not only been investing in equipment which we've seen a lot of companies do with -- question being.
Where jobs are but you guys have been adding jobs at your last year the demand you're saying -- we haven't at our plant in the Kenji Pennsylvania too far from here.
We're up to about 2000 employees we had a 700 employees sorry last August.
To support the demand -- on two shifts also an -- Mac customers -- and Allentown as well we put on people there as well.
Hagerstown Maryland where we build our engines and trans visions -- about 15100 employees there and now we're gonna introducing new transmission line.
Because the demand has been so high for the success of this transmission will be building here -- Hagerstown alright Kevin clarity of president would Mack trucks and and guys you to take a quick look at the Bulldog you.
