Right away but right now we're gonna dig -- dig into the small business here couple special guest with us mice to walker is with us president of message medium.

-- she's joining us is an Internet strategist columnist we also have Jerry Siegel who's the president of -- near.

Talking to us and they are conducted a survey of small businesses and and helps them.

Good advice I think for many small business owners and how better to use social media for marketing in that we -- just talking prior to the start here.

About whether or not should be up tweeting -- at 2 AM NI MI -- -- about the magic number of hours.

A little bit that you found from this survey and and tells a little bit of back -- about serving as well who you've surveyed and and how these findings can help you figure out how many hours you need to dedicate to do this when you are may be running the shop all by yourself.

Yes so it was very interesting being found that from the data that was submitted by small business owners and non profits we surveyed hundreds of small business and it's nearly a thousand.

And the data that was submitted actually show that the magic number was around 25 hours a week.

And I know that sounds like a large number probably a lot of people listening but some really exciting and very good things start to happen when people get that number we saw.

That there was a group of power users that we identified from our survey results.

The consistently hit that number.

And -- -- -- and they often would find that there number FaceBook followers with triple the number of regular a small business owners.

The number of Twitter followers they had was seven times a number of small business owners.

And that confidence level in using these tools which I think is a big factor for for a lot of people the confidence was double the normal rate.

So it is just a tipping point for businesses to be able to you.

Use these rules -- Within that Jerry do you find you have for small businesses are way did you find any shortcuts is there way to condensed what people are doing and we've IR -- maybe.

-- the best of -- than the must -- If you can't dedicate that's almost another part time job -- point five -- a majority in the Stewart sixty hours a -- -- we're doing whatever your businesses.

So I'm gonna say that on the 25 Harris isn't just one person throughout the organization.

And you want to work -- as a team.

Are -- things that you can do more effectively absolutely so their tools for Twitter to make it -- use.

And it's really important to educate yourself.

And train yourself so that you or more efficient -- the cut the amount of time you spend.

Using social media.

-- Terry talked about five social media tools are very effective was at the same five for everyone our people found that using five.

The of the five tool player if you will.

So that's a great question so no surprise FaceBook is number one followed by -- yet common things that linked in Twitter.

Blogging and I'm gonna throw in a 61 which is -- to consent of one of the get you to.

What we found is among the power uses those people that -- using 25 hours or more.

Is that they are aligning.

-- and the target market they want to reach.

-- if and the right social median platform so you've really do need to know which platform does well does well in if you get a digital dot.

It's did -- digital dot.

Now I'm forgetting it gets any updated its data knowing about how dot -- you'll get the full report in which we have a chart saying which.

Online marketing tools work best for.

Which purpose us.

-- semi -- their way to find out like maybe putting out special deal only through.

One of these social mediums like yes maybe Twitter has like a special for today -- -- to -- -- Which one reaches your audience -- it has now clearly and in different geographies -- you know you have different access to.

-- bandwidth or maybe people or more in the FaceBook in certain areas and they aren't Twitter and in in the adoption rate must be different for all of.

Yes that's absolutely true what we really found was that.

Small businesses are starting to recognize.

Things that marketing experts kind of have known for awhile which is that you really have to masks.

What you're doing for you or individual business with what your target audience is really.

What -- what your target audience is doing so you know the fastest growing group of people on FaceBook is women over 55 a lot of people don't realize that I did.

-- -- So I think if you're targeting women that could be a women over 55 -- to be a great audience for you.

But you're targeting teenagers are you know people that are younger than thirteen they're technically not been allowed to be on -- -- you really need to me straight that.

You are matching the goals of your programs up according to you which schools are going to be -- effective for you.

And then you are also measuring things so.

How well -- the technique that technique that you're using actually doing to accomplish those goals.

On the and then make sure that you're being nimble so adjusting the tactics that you're using.

To match the results so when you read the results -- you.

You know smiling sometimes it's hard to -- followed -- you really focusing on what those results are showing you said that you can't.

Uses tactics more effectively yeah.

You're just gonna -- in your survey you have some guidelines and outlined news the most effective ways that.

The people can market their small business actually.

Yeah so actually wanna -- and -- and just expand a little bit on what my issue with saying that the terms of the target market so for example if you were targeting women over 55 -- looks fine which was one of the case studies that we did.

They found consumers were really well for them if you're targeting that teens do something -- pet thing.

It's the way to.

Reach people so even though these may not be the top five social media.

They are very effective at using.

I think certain some like interest are growing and particularly in that demographic guys and -- you have to know again -- -- -- you're trying to -- in and which.

-- media is best and then again so they can find more that information through your survey I think it.

Absolutely.

Absolutely -- with -- -- digital.

I can't seem to get it did did -- the digital dabbling that come.

About him.

Maybe looking at a little bit of that right now on online right now so.

October is also about how big companies might you can help some of the smaller companies out maybe there are small companies can learn from big companies mistakes and experienced well.

That's really exciting opportunity and that holds carrying an imminent on that TV she's got a lottery things to say about it but there's a really big opportunity for companies to be reviewed -- hero.

For larger companies to be the hero for smaller businesses.

-- really don't always -- opportunity to find the right training find the right resources.

And a lot of companies out there we're providing social media marketing services.

And programs and software for small businesses.

Haven't necessarily provided all the training and the -- sources.

That these businesses need in order to learn how to use these -- aggressively.

So there's a great opportunity for a lot of these companies are providing these tools and services.

To just do a better job and step up their -- a bit on the training and information that they provide.

And and I think.

There's not a big need for these small businesses to go out and find great resource his mind experts who they can hire.

But then also -- -- -- these companies and -- please give me more information on how to use your software.

Specifically for the kind of business that I'm running.

And of course the corporations benefit because it grows there the usage of their -- right.

So they need to provide a variety of tools -- -- small businesses learn in a variety of different ways so it could be anything from.

Webinars to online resource says and what we also found is what differentiates.

Power users from regular -- -- If they really rely on experts.

So if I were that would -- online marketing social media companies -- -- and outside experts to what talk to small businesses.

Last question very briefly what defines the power user.

-- -- at more than 25 hours a week -- 45 hours week that seems to be the sweet spot.

A lot of hours but I guess you'll see results that seems to be at well thank you so much Jerry steel and -- a walker for joining us here and a stimulate discussion on how to better market yourself these exit from the answer which seems to be -- its continues to grow and -- we'll have.
