Real solution to fixing our nation's financial problems immediate budget cuts in entitlement reform or more government spending.
Take a wild guess what Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is advocating you guessed it more spending your hard earned tax -- dollars.
Right away and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee host of Huckabee on the Fox News Channel.
Governor always great to see you thank you Gerri great to be here are and what you hear what Geithner actually says -- respond.
There is a powerful myth today in the American political debate.
Not a particularly the -- debate you know that suggest that the weakness the American -- economy is the result.
Too much spending and too much growth in government and there is no basis and no credible argument.
In support of that.
-- right no credible argument -- you agree with them now I think it's ridiculous and it's irrational irrational.
To say that there's no credible argument of course is a credible argument and the credible argument is that when you spend money you don't have you have to borrow it.
And when you borrow money you can't afford to pay back the -- -- ending up in an incredible debt it's somebody sometime.
Somewhere on the futures got -- pay far.
That's what Geithner has not addressed in he is administration.
And the Obama administration has doubled the debt of the United States.
In less time than it took every other president to get it to where it was before -- look at that's pretty astonishing.
Nearly sixteen trillion dollars we watch this number every single day and it only goes out.
What is the solution now slow growth.
And -- -- we can't seem to put one foot in front of the other when it comes to the economy what do we do.
Well we have to at least show some willingness to have financial discipline.
Let's look what Germany did when Angela Merkel was being pressured by President Obama to spend more she says no we're we're gonna exercise some austerity measures.
And so they did they cut spending in Germany and they cut taxes they may Germany a capital friendly environment.
And -- unemployment rate is five point six we haven't been able to get ars below eight point one and we celebrated at eight point one well at least some people did.
But it's ridiculous to say that our problem is we just haven't spent enough it reminds me of the old days when George Washington was president.
And after that when he was very sick.
And that was the days when you put leeches on people and you drain their blood thinking that make them help here.
More leeches are leeches and this is Tim Geithner is basically didn't calling for more leeches on an already bled out system.
Well let me tell you there are leeches to come -- friend because tax gotten is right around the corner.
We have an expiration of a lot of the tax -- the bush tax cuts.
Lots of taxes coming into view for not just wealthy people but everybody governor do we have to turn that around as quickly as we can't -- think.
Will do its.
I'm not sure that there's enough political capacity in Washington to agree on anything even that it's Friday.
But -- the fact is.
Tax again is gonna hurt people that are not millionaires when you get rid of the -- tax child credit from a thousand to 500.
That hurts people who are raising kids.
When you eliminates really are are you put back to marriage penalty.
That hurts people who are married so the very people that we need more strength and solidarity and which is a family -- raising kids you're gonna hit them hard if we don't do the patch and the Alternative Minimum Tax.
That hits families in them really in the forty to 50000 income ranges it's insane -- 150 million more Americans will be hit I -- -- if they don't do the patch and they typically do that you just don't see the political will for anything.
Now governor Romney is talking a good -- many put out an -- today that seems to promise -- -- I want you to respond to it here's the act.
Governor Romney presidency.
They want.
President Romney immediately proves the Keystone Pipeline creating thousands of jobs that Obama blocks.
President on the introduces tax cuts and reforms that -- job creators.
President on the issues -- -- can replace him.
Bombing -- with a common sense health -- Life.
And I approve this message.
So cookies and milk for all my friends -- chicken and never did I what else we had to as.
You know but this -- people will listen to say that's very you know what I thought the powerful point of that -- was was not.
That issues -- in keystone it was president Romney and you hear this wonderful reassuring music and I think that this subtlety of the ad.
And and in essence the subtext was more powerful than the tax.
Because he gives you the idea to envision someone else as president and that someone being Mitt Romney and saying president Romney.
Making you know -- subliminal but I think it was very power.
Well also what's interesting I think there's no hard punches there right now here's what I wanna deal yeah it's night.
Here's -- coming out -- and it wasn't telling you about how terrible Obama's been referenced it.
But nothing like.
You know he's a terrible he's an un American nothing like that it was out -- very the very effective ballplayer who is suffering in this economy and -- American families -- you and I've talked about this before.
You know we still have high unemployment.
I -- anything great percent to -- is way too high people are suffering at which your message to those folks right now.
Well I think we have to get a different to -- political landscape you know with Harry Reid can't pass a budget and three years plus April 23 2009.
Last time the senate has passed a budget -- throw them out let's get some folks in there that understand that is their constitutional duty.
And responsibility.
Let's get a president who says give me a chance I believe in the American people.
We really have an unemployment rate that's probably closer to 1516.
Because a lot of people just quit looking for work.
That's really tragic was put him back to work and the only way to do it is to give businesses some sense that they're not going to be taxed into oblivion.
Regulated into oblivion and litigated into oblivion.
Alright Governor Huckabee.
Tax tax tax it seems like the only thing that comes out of Washington thanks for coming outside is only in the.
