Hello this is Kia so you're representing the business community in Maryland today how do you feel about -- -- in taxes.

Well -- here in -- you know they they do have a different definition of rich you over the we're not talking about millionaires and billionaires but thousand there's and so the fact that they're about to passed today.

-- impact one out of every four Maryland nurse and it and it taxes increases the income tax on anybody making 100000 dollars you're more.

Is there increase some taxes on the specifically on business is I think there is but wouldn't -- -- force.

Well here here's the issue in Maryland it's not just the -- this special session taxes that there impact they're passing today.

But governor Martin O'Malley over the past four or five years -- increased.

-- -- different fees and taxes and increasing.

He's taken -- an additional two billion dollars out of the pockets of businesses and families in Maryland.

We were.

That before today the number four highest tax burden in the entire country.

Today we're probably gonna move ahead of California be number one in the income tax but yes -- fast just a dozen additional taxes on businesses corporate taxes are -- sales taxes up.

Not 1% they tried to increase and again they're talking about in in Maryland and they've never met attacks that they didn't like -- when they didn't hike.

Get I can say definitively.

That high taxes in California -- -- businesses Alps.

Can you tell me the same thing in Maryland you've got a very high tax rate it's going higher have you already seen specifically businesses leave.

It's it's had a tremendous impact on -- -- I mean we are the California of the east.

And -- you know major companies that we're making decisions about coming into the mid Atlantic area.

All made the decision to go to Virginia where it's a much more attractive place -- just recently.

Major companies like Volkswagen of North America Hilton Hotels.

Computer science corporation all made the decision that they were coming to the Washington area.

They decided to go to Virginia so Maryland has lost thousands of jobs as a result of just those big companies but it's also driving.

Small businesses out of the state in droves and driving them out of business behind Larry -- we hear you and we thank you very much for appearing on the program today I should say by the way we extended an invitation to governor amounted to come on the show he declined.
