Bishop Tom Brown he's the founder and the leader of the word of life church in El Paso, Texas and -- good good to have you with -- Well thank you for having on the show appreciate it.

Op EU are very much opposed to same sex marriage you are working hard in your community in making your voice heard is is strongly if you can.

What what drives you in this fight -- traditional marriage.

And in opposition to same sex.

Well you know Lou I've been seeing a breakdown of the marriage for the last sixty years that we didn't have to wait for the gay activists to come to try to redefine marriage.

We've already seen society diluting the the importance of marriage because they don't want to stay committed.

You know I hear people say marriage -- between a man and a woman but more than that.

Marriage is a life time committed monogamous relationship between a man and a woman.

And we've already been losing that already so it became natural for the gay activist that come in and say hey.

Since the heterosexuals been doing a lousy job -- marriage anyway let's just join them and and but that's not the answer the answer isn't.

To dilute the definition of marriage is to have a revival and -- all of us get back to being committed.

In -- in our marriages.

If I couldn't agree with you more -- I don't believe there is more important.

Relationship in society than that of the family.

Certainly in not in in this country I can speak with from considerable authority on that.

But I don't hear church leaders I don't hear politicians.

Our in either political party by the way.

Focusing on the -- principal threats to traditional marriage.

It is a -- gay marriage doesn't even come up.

Is is relevant yet it consumes -- much of the energy of particularly evangelicals.

And the Catholic Church -- in this country.

Why is that.

The case and why would the pastors such as yourself.

Ministers priests across the country.

Not be focusing on what is happening to the relationship of the church to the community.

The relationship.

Of of our families but to the broader community.

Well you know for for me Lou I don't really actually focus on -- gay debate as much as people think I do I really focus.

On traditional marriages and trying to keep mom and dad together trying to teach them to be committed to -- To make a sacrifice in behalf of their family my focus on my ministry is actually -- heterosexuals.

However.

You can't ignore another facet of the -- -- against the traditional family marriage.

And so I do believe it's that it's important to deal with those issues because.

A gay marriage is gonna open up a pandora box of a whole lot of problems and we need to make sure we stopped it before it gets out of hand aren't.

-- -- ask you this I mean -- your opposition to gay marriage though.

About the way you don't have another case before the Texas Supreme Court do you besides the one involving.

Gay -- -- What we do have a -- case if it involves not just the gay marriage issue.

-- in the Texas Supreme Court because.

The city of the mayor and the City Council overthrew the votes of the people and then the mayor did not want to accept the signatures of the recall petition and so that's why where the Texas Supreme Court but that was on the issue of same sex.

Relationships was and yes there is that if that was the basis sort of -- getting.

Michigan is if you had another case besides -- -- the Supreme Court.

No that's the only case we have right now before the Texas Supreme Court but let let let's turn to.

Heterosexual marriage -- that's where you want to put your focus here.

You know they're all sorts of commandments in the in the Bible.

Against adultery.

Against.

You know various elements of the the traditional.

Marriage and family that are broken with quite regular frequencies it seems in our society.

But there isn't that effort to constrict.

Or or to punish.

In the minds of many.

Heterosexual.

Family members through violated covenants and commandments.

Of the Bible.

Why does same sex marriage in your mind.

Why does it rise to such an emotional level.

That is that he does not even be -- to be reached and are in an American society on any of these other rich.

Well look no one is advocating punishing adulterers -- afford educators or homosexuals.

Nobody wants any of that so when -- into the -- that people should -- -- I'm not I'm not focusing on that an audience and why should -- yesterday they are not.

Though they're not and I don't think they should be from Jesus said I'm not gonna throw the stone and you but he does say lead your life of -- So we do want to encourage people to live a better life and that's basically what we're doing -- trying to encourage people to live a better life.

And and that better life is not the homosexual lifestyle.

Okay homosexuality is wrong just like adultery is law wrong just like fornication is wrong I don't just pick -- the one particular sexual sin.

And -- lives all make.

Big gay active is the bogey man let's let's all say they're the bad guys.

The truth is we all are culprits we all have made our share of mistakes but the answer Lou is -- by opening up the pandora box and including gay marriage you know.

I think about a quote -- of the villain on the Incredibles he said.

I'll sell my convention doing -- better ways I've ever and when I bring up that have a bishop to talk with about getting quotes from the European Parliament.

That's right -- because the -- could.

Acting ability said I'm gonna -- -- inventions to everyone so everyone can be a super -- and when everyone's super.

No one is super and that's the idea what we don't treat marriage as super valuable than before we know it.

Nothing is valuable anymore to us and I think basically we are -- Since I think is very valuable many things are very valuable to us but amongst those most valuable -- -- -- part time which are gone over.

We'll continue the conversation.

Because we're neither behind the idea of what's gonna happen with the traditional families and why there isn't a lot more emphasis put on it.

In this society.

Appreciate it thank you very much mission.
