Turning out of the president's evolving energy policy the Obama administration approving more than 3500.

-- natural gas wells in Utah.

My next guest says this provides a glimmer of hope.

But more can and should be done joining us now is congressman rob bishop chairman of the house natural resources Subcommittee on National Parks forests.

And public -- great to have you what.

Thank you for having me on let let's Begin first with the politics of the moment and that is the president's reversal on.

The same sex marriage your reaction.

Well neither the president nor the vice president -- any responsibility over establishing what the definition is.

The legal definition it's still -- And only only the states really have the ability of changing that perhaps congress but that's not an executive branch decision will be made.

And your reaction to weather and out of -- have any influence on the election.

-- respect to the actual administrative power to affect the change.

Well I think everything that -- -- has an impact on the selection especially if it is close we are predicting.

-- yeah I I think would have some impact but I'm sorry that's all the time and and hindsight can answer that question accurately.

I'm sorry I didn't understand either you're you're speaking so -- there's so much noise.

Finance I apologize I'll try and -- I'll try and beat louder and that when I apologize if if if it's it's it's a close election anything that is said we'll have some kind of an impact.

But that's that's the kind of question that can only be answered accurately through hindsight.

I won't let's try -- -- do you think that this will be a problem for governor Romney are do you think it is a differentiation that might be positive for him.

Well I.

And I think there's a clear.

I perceive a clear difference in what their responses would be and once again I think that.

If you go back to what is the legal definition of marriage right now and tell.

The states -- until congress changes that that still is a legal definition I think.

That's where one that's where when should -- stand until some some legal actions taken place that what what people perceive what people think it personally.

It's nice that there is this is a nation of laws not a perception.

Right.

-- -- Before we get to -- -- from -- but let's turn to the evolution of this president's energy policies opening up natural gas wells in you talk.

Give us you give us your thoughts about -- that this partners.

The prospect.

Of of a greater a definitive change in policy.

One that he's resisted to this point.

I hope it is it's a nice first step.

But I think one let's keep in mind that -- These serious these releases that have been being reviewed for multiple years -- -- they could've they could've operates these leases three years ago.

-- they want to -- I I hope we don't have to wait till there's another presidential election have moved forward.

But even though this is being authorized by the Interior Department there are other agencies of government that are trying to meddle in this particular issue that makes it worrisome stale.

So if this is indeed -- change I think it's changed for the better and I welcome it.

But I'd like to see what other agencies specifically EPA want to say about these kinds of projects going forward.

And as I said we've been waiting a long long time for these to finally be approved.

I'm glad it's approved any time that this close -- election makes somewhat suspect.

Do you believe this is an election year conversion on the part of the administration.

Is small and incremental changes it may be.

I wanna hope not but I wouldn't want to be via via lawyer trying to prove that the court of law.

-- luckily if you're at it and they've buried alive.

I'm that the current market obviously great to have you with us we're sorry for the -- -- like talking with congressman rob bishop.

Apologize annoyed that thank you for having me here -- take care of that.
