Well you know this the global mood is in a word angry.
Here at home Occupy Wall Street is on the march again.
And across the pond European protest over prosperity led up to this weekend's elections tossing incumbent politicians and electing a socialist.
As president of France joining me now an expert on angry outbursts is that fair -- theory that's where it's very springer is here the host of the Jerry Springer Show which is going into its 22.
Season.
Yeah I'd like to apologize I know harper and the -- I think what the but -- but the protest what they should do we should give each of them chairs.
How and that change looking -- throw chairs and -- will be exhausted in that one goes home and will be I know people are angry but.
You know they have reason to be upset you know.
Things are pretty tough for most people.
-- anyone for a roundup written a lot has 10% of point -- things are not pretty there they have a huge debt yeah what's the solution.
Well we get in this debate all over the world now between capitalism and socialism and all this and we will start the waving our flags.
I think the reality is those of us who love capitalism.
Have to recognize that in today's world there has to be government component to it.
And the reason for it I believe is the whole goal of capitalism there of course is to make a profit.
-- in order to make a profit which you have to do every business does it.
Is cut expenses in the way you cut expenses -- to hire as few people as possible.
-- -- low wages possible so if you can replace a person with a machine you do that or computer.
If you have to -- person higher person overseas because they're cheaper what the result of that is the business who will make a profit.
But more more people will be out of work so therefore.
You -- you though that that what you just described you know.
Is going on obviously with a lot of American companies -- hiring people overseas so somebody is benefiting somewhere it's just not Americans right now saying you think -- what we should be doing is getting more government programs rather than encouraging smaller businesses to start and -- Well I think -- do both are you I think you do both it can't be either war.
Every business is trying to cut back the problem with cutting back -- is that.
People get laid off but the only way in our society to support your family is to have a job we don't want people to steal.
We don't want people just to be on welfare.
You you know sold the only option is let's make sure everyone's working.
And therefore you do need some government involvement that we can't keep saying everything the government does is -- or everything the private sector is bad we have to stop that argument and recognized we need both.
You know what's interesting about that is there's so many people on the dole right now whether it's Social Security of people paid into that over their entire lives.
Or food stamps or unemployment insurance more than half of Americans are not paying income taxes.
Isn't that a situation that needs to be fixed.
Well for those that can afford to pay yes but -- will agree would you then that those of us who are lucky enough to be.
Having this incredible life and we are lucky let's be honest.
We ordered to pay more if we can I mean if you want -- pay as much as the new French socialist president is suggesting 75%.
Let's take 75% in federal income -- I think that know the answer is no I don't think that's necessary.
But I am never going to complain for the life I have.
He would be the height of arrogance to complain.
So when I see you know when there's so many people either out of work -- just trying to make ends meet we're trying to get their kids into college or pay the rent of the utility bills.
You know.
-- those of us could afford to pay a little bit more for this great country -- not isn't it interesting.
That it is we have no problem sending our young of men and women to fight and die in wars to protect America.
But by gosh if we here at home.
Are asked to pay a little bit more for America do well don't ask me I don't want to have to pay for this country.
I mean you know where where's the justice and all -- this.
Well and I think you can look at that a lot of different -- -- made durable but you know half of America is sponsoring all of these government programs and we just got done paying more than 800 billion in stimulus.
Here's the frightening thing about that.
It didn't really -- well okay okay.
First of all the stimulus package wasn't anywhere -- large enough but what's and -- -- -- any person yeah -- with it had to be -- had -- OK -- well let me -- we have tried your way while I am assuming you might have -- what I mean by that is the tax cuts.
We -- the bush tax cuts for nine years now almost nine years obviously.
There are not working.
So clearly cutting my taxes why are you giving me a tax cut you honestly think.
That's gonna help the economy giving media at a tax cut.
What we have to do is put people back to work because if you put people back to work.
Even if they're working that's out there are designated as if you put people back to work -- -- pay taxes.
How -- I'll tell you what I think the road to fix the bridges you build the schools down until all -- hospitals is that you held up all of this all of that you do all of it.
We can't just do one thing.
We have to do with or.
And we have to I think get away from the argument socialism vs capitalism when -- as the 1930s again I wanna talk about some of the things you're doing is sides arguing about -- -- no -- did so well.
Now if it's much.
I enjoyed.
