Rested.

Well major parts of Arizona's anti illegal immigration laws seem to pass judicial Muster yesterday -- Supreme Court.

The law requires police to check the legal status of people they stopped for other reasons -- my next guest says.

The legislation is helping Arizona and any controversy swirling around the law is purely political theater.

Joining me now is Arizona congressman Dave much weicker congressman good to see yeah thanks for gonna get a good -- David so.

First of all what's your sense of how the Supreme Court is gonna be ruling based on what you've heard so far.

Well you know it I'm fairly optimistic and let's face it if the Supreme Court.

Rules on what the law actually says not what as you just mentioned the political -- out there says.

I believe they're gonna hold up the four sections that have been put a -- out of the ten sections of law.

Were you surprised by he had justice Sotomayor she of course is that is a liberal appointed by Obama and she did seem to challenge some of the administration's positions.

Look she understands the law she may not be where -- -- ideologically.

But.

If someone is it's going to be honest and actually would sit down and read S Arizona's SB 1070.

It's not that complicated.

And there's multiple places and there to protect civil rights to make sure there's not racial discrimination in and profiling.

If its -- would just given an honest read you understand.

The political -- that you've seen around the country about this 1070 bill I think is used to -- up.

Political support for someone's based not -- reality of what the law sets.

Us what you talk about an honest read I think the American people are generally pretty honest and straight for when they hear more about stopping something may come to a conclusion.

This is the conclusion that they've come to.

68%.

Of them 68% of those poll by Quinnipiac University support.

Arizona's immigration -- not know justice is supposed to be blinded.

Should polls and so forth but can the court completely ignore that.

I -- actually.

I would like them to ignore that I want them to rule honestly fairly well what the law actually says because I believe that's best for -- on -- best for the nation.

I'll look Arizona so wonderful place and it has -- why diverse population.

But you gotta understand what the failure this federal government has done to my home I used to be the Maricopa County treasurer.

I saw the incredible -- the money we were spending to incarcerate and educate and healthcare.

Because of the failure of the federal government.

And is that fair -- due to any.

Family in Arizona I don't care what your racial makeup is for the federal government's failure to those costs to be pushed on you and your family just because you live in the southwest.

Right now finally there is this pew poll which -- came out showing.

A reverse migration of Mexicans who had come here illegally going back to Mexico courses because a bit.

The down economy that we have the United States.

Some people that -- that support the administration.

Say that this shows that that folks and Arizona are exaggerating.

The threat to which you say while.

Well actually if you also look at some of that other data the exit migration from -- -- of undocumented population was dramatically higher.

Actually demonstrating that the law actually is working for -- on.

David H weicker congressman from Arizona good to see -- thank you for coming -- that coming up next.
