Morning we've -- all kinds of political and economic reasons for the increasing gun sales but all -- you perhaps missing the point.

To people just enjoy firing guns.

They enjoy these days contrary to what you might think up to two generations a propaganda -- -- -- Joining us now is weighing up Piaf CEO all the the NRA Wayne good to have you -- Thanks for having Stuart what do you make of this up move we've heard two main reasons why we've got a surge in gun sales people concerned about -- safety and the what about the Second Amendment Rights in -- second Obama took.

That is a third reason.

What do you think guns a phone so we bottom.

No doubt about it I mean the fact is that this shooting sports -- as an American is playing catch I mean before there was baseball before there was football.

The shooting sports have always been part of an American good time I mean thirty -- forty million Americans participate in the shooting sports.

That's more than tennis more than golf Morgan skiing and we lot more people out there enjoying these sports are safe.

They've they've teach responsibility -- this is just -- I must wait you know that that I'm I'm the opposite propaganda.

But the faction of the times what you see in the popular media is for two generations -- been you know.

Guns of that -- -- from -- don't own them fine and is not -- find -- noisy loud dangerous don't do it and yet suddenly.

People seem to be rediscovering.

And a vote I have to interject if the sectors look I'm an englishman right I was not born up brought up in in a -- culture.

Are noticing my first have a gun store in Connecticut four years ago yes guns now yes but I'm gonna skits yes guns -- So it's a it's a surprise to me to find Americans sort of finding fun in owning guns but -- confirming it.

Well I think it shows how ought to step the so called media yet mainstream media is in this country would most Americans it's.

31 billion dollar industry in this country I -- 2.5.

Billion in federal taxes a hundred million American gun owners.

Thirty million American women now own firearms I mean it's a huge cross section of the American public.

Fifteen million people go hunting every year end.

I mean that's why the strength of the Second Amendment support in this country reflects where the American public is on this issue that well.

You know the mainstream media has on the other side do you worry about a backlash from the left and and you may be shed.

You know gun proponents not be on TV talking about it to sort of alert the rest of the media come down on them.

You know the media wants to bury it fog this issue through the 2012 election I -- I ended up -- Harvard after the 2000 election of the school of government politics.

Because the polling showed among union members.

Gun ownership runs from a low in California 47%.

While high -- hope 7080.

Person 90% in states like Tennessee -- West Virginia Missouri Pennsylvania Ohio.

And up to half of those union house that all owned a firearm.

Voted for President Bush as opposed to god -- and the main issue was the gun issue in fact they asked that that seminar.

Through the political director for the AFL CIO what's his advice to Democrats on the gun issue and he said they just need this shot up.

Now that's a reflective of where the American public stands on this issue.

Latin -- -- real fast way that you just have the NRA's convention in Saint -- I believe I am told that the big hits of the convention was the -- Smith & Wesson handgun the -- shield got a picture of it on the street I'm not asking you to endorse or otherwise -- -- by private manufacturer but I am -- right inside that this -- make a big splash at the convention.

Yet it did I mean but the but the big hit of the convention to me was 74.

Thousand American citizens that came out to celebrate this freedom I mean we had.

Why -- -- -- 74000.

People in Saint Louis feel convention center before we thousand.

-- the largest crowd we ever had at our convention and it was a great celebration is freedom it it shows you where the American public stands and they're not about to lose -- -- when -- the and all right thanks for joining us so we appreciate you being with us thank you bank.
