Romney campaign policy director -- he -- joins me now want he Craig at in the program.

Thanks I mean -- -- appreciated OK so -- as you know was over -- chatting with donors recently suggesting tax changes for the wealthy obviously and knowing many Democrats.

We'll get into the political.

There are some interesting ideas Romney have some some interesting ideas for taxing the wealthy where does he stand in terms of some of -- some of these things.

Well the important.

-- think really Laurie is that we've got to get our marginal tax rates down we have to figure out a way to jump -- economic growth and create jobs.

And governor Romney's got -- a bold pro -- tax plan that would cut marginal tax rates across the board by 20%.

Well the same time ensuring that we minimize impact on the deficit by restricting.

Limiting some of the deductions and exemptions that -- income -- get.

And we also would look to lower the corporate tax rates -- finally competitive with some of our peer countries.

And really by doing that we feel we can get this economy going and get jobs created again.

Is it fair to say line -- that there's little bit confusion whether or not -- has a firm.

Tax reform policy out there because as you know the Democrats are very critical that he was just candidly tossing around some ideas that reporters just happen to.

Over here and some of those ideas -- hit on some of them.

-- mortgage interest rates deductions for second homes eliminating deductions for state local taxes closing emerging federal agencies that deal of education housing so went to get us firm policies.

Eight from Romney.

Well governor Romney's -- said that he favors a broader tax base with lower rates.

Which is true tax reform and I'll say I'll -- that we put out a lot more detail governor Romney's got a lot more detail on the policies he would -- to get this economy going.

Then President Obama has always heard from President Obama is the politics of deception and blame.

And he's out there talking about raising taxes -- time about raising taxes at the buffet tax earlier this week.

And it doesn't seem to have a tangible solution to get this economy going so.

Mitt Romney's out there with specific solutions to get our economy growing to get jobs created and that the president just doesn't have those solutions not each other from.

The -- camp about spending cuts.

We over early -- we agencies -- might come in by C.

Nothing definitive.

Well we've detailed a number spending cuts actually -- look back to a speech the governor -- in November we talked about some very important cuts that we can make.

We can look at paring back subsidies for things like Amtrak the national endowment for the arts and humanities.

We also talked about ensuring that we slow the rate of growth of Medicaid by converting it to block granting so that states.

Can improve the program we've had a number of suggestions that are very specific certainly more specific than any other person running for president and certainly more specific than this present.

All right I have to -- with this vote in New York Times this morning the Obama campaign spokesman apparently governor Romney believes only high dollar donors.

Have a right to -- programs he will cut so.

You're saying a -- been put on the table lot been made public but -- the Democrats are coming back and saying gosh -- Again it's kind of unclear what's really been made into a firm policy platform.

I think it's ironic that this White House is talking about transparency when you've seen a number of media reports over the last few days talking about this White House is being one of the least transparent.

In modern history.

When you've got a GSA administrator that's out there are taking the that that the Fifth Amendment -- that they don't have to provide.

Testimony to the American people on the kind of wasteful spending we're seeing in this administration.

So I I do you think it's ironic I think governor Romney is made.

His policy positions absolutely clear.

And he's talked about the importance of getting tax rates down to grow our economy so we've been very transparent about the policies that we would pursue.

If governor Romney's elected that's it to the president's.

And in the Huffington Post last with a list of potential running mates are happy Gingrich Andrew Card Condoleezza Rice and Lockheed show -- you accepts.

I yeah I I'm very happy image out I have governor Romney is going to seek out.

-- many people who are far more qualified.

There's certainly -- well but but but we have -- -- process underway governor Romney looks forward to.

Selecting a running mate that shares his vision for America which is a growing economy with growing wages and good jobs for the American people are -- -- -- Chad thank you.
