Kansas secretary of staring there -- -- back Kansas one of the fifteen states that require photo IDU before voting.

Joining -- while former Ohio secretary of state Ken Blackwell senior fellow at the American civil rights union.

He maintains the Obama administration has launched an all out war against voter ID laws to bolster the president's.

Election chances good to have you -- here -- let's Begin with you how all this -- and how would that bolster the president's election chance.

Well it if this this election.

And I'll deference to the rest of the states is problem -- come down on the force states.

Ohio Florida Virginia.

And North Carolina both.

All forward large African American populations.

And this is just a -- that base look attorney general holder understands that Supreme Court in Indiana.

Case in 2008.

Already said.

That requiring photo IDs.

Our constitution we have been and so we would know what he's doing is just -- on the left hand and are we get we got the history but I got range I mean what the world.

Anybody can go get voter identification -- whether they're black and their Hispanic Asian and the name it.

Our in our.

White folks -- I can't I can't defended certain Lou.

I mean if you look at what we need them for a boat ride I mean photo IDs for in this country did take got a library book to get on my airplane.

Tobacco -- -- -- you know so it's nothing out of the ordinary to say that you should be able to expect people to be who they claim to be.

When they go to exercise the franchise so voting is both a right but he carries with it.

A duty and we have -- right.

To a about it box that has integrity and that voters are who they say they are and don't allow fraudulent votes to negate.

Legitimate votes.

Chris -- Texas South Carolina already.

Sued by the Justice Department over voter ID.

I you know and this can just sent -- -- this deal was settled by the Supreme Court in 2008 in the Indiana case in which there.

Very tough voter identification law was upheld.

What what's what's going on with this administration mean this can write the in his view that if they're trying to excite the base in some -- I think that may be one of several political motivations the administration has but he's also absolutely right that this this.

Legal issue was settled the Supreme Court has already said.

That any burden there is of having to reaching your pocket and pull -- a photo IDR go down -- that.

Back county office and get our free photo ID if you don't have one is not a constitutionally significant burden.

And so the notion that the Justice Department is going into the states like Texas -- South Carolina.

In claiming that there is that there are thousands of people -- photo IDs with no evidence by the way in our -- no less significant evidence.

And claiming that this disproportionately affects minorities again without the -- -- -- the evidence suggest the contrary in states like Georgia that have been doing this for awhile.

And -- let me tell you some numbers we have at a Kansas -- our law has been in effect since the first of the year to one of the toughest photo ID laws in America.

And we've had but local elections in 44 counties since the beginning of the year -- about 64000.

Votes cast.

Now if that people in the Justice Department and on the far left for correct DC thousands of people showing up without photo ID.

The total number of people who -- -- so far about eighty.

In other words about one out of every 800 voters shows up about a photo ID and most of those people just left it at home they they have a driver's license.

And what I was sure that happen when that occurs they.

They get they get a provisional ballot and they have either six or nine days to go get their photo ID and bring it to the county election office and make sure their ballot counts.

So they're not disenfranchise they get a second chance to.

Bring their photo ID and it's just ludicrous.

To make the argument that the Obama Justice Department is making that this somehow disenfranchises.

Anyone.

And can I.

I -- and and -- only about the end of like CP wants to go to the united nations human rights council -- that is.

And do you happen to be -- you happen to be on the UN convention on human rights are how would you how do you think they'll adjudicate.

-- -- -- -- -- -- As a former.

US ambassador today counsel let me tell you made -- 47.

Country's seventeen of them.

On the most are among the most repressive governments and the in in the world.

Many of the folks on that jury deserved to be in the dock.

You know -- I don't think they're gonna take this case.

Because they know how stupid it is on his face you -- -- Human Rights Council isn't dumb enough to play along -- -- -- Blue -- let me just say if you wanna get into the pat way and Geneva where they hold their meetings guess what you need a photo ID.

-- Well it is is we're looking at this I mean.

I am watching the national media cover this story with this earnest bland.

-- nonsense.

That they call reporting.

And and I can't believe what I'm witnessing.

You would think that it was you know circa 1958.

In.

In Alabama are -- Arkansas.

Is it just does what the secretary -- -- Lou debt that the evidence flies in the face of of those making these allegations.

The reality is is that in Georgia.

And then Indiana where they have these laws in place voting -- minorities.

Have gone up has gone out.

And Chris and this seems and persuasive to this Justice Department in this administration.

-- were we headed here we've got to have very important election coming up here it looks like it is ripe for the taking if you will.

Well we've had a number of states like Kansas in the 2011 state alleges that -- cycle that passed photo ID laws.

We've got a couple that are passing photo IDs laws this time around Pennsylvania and Virginia are tightening up their laws those are two battle will states if you will.

Well -- so there's we're going to the polls in November.

Secure in the knowledge that this election is one of the integrity of the ballot box across the country.

It depends on which step you're talking about in states like Georgia Kansas Indiana yes they will know that voter -- not gonna steal the election.

But in other states that do do virtually nothing to secure the election -- places like Washington DC.

Who -- Chris thanks very much and thank you appreciate it Chris -- back -- -- below.
