Joining the company now is Fox News contributor Father Jonathan Morris and rabbi carrier sparrow from caucus for America rabbi to you first -- -- night.
That's my question.
Is America still today a robust spiritual society.
The population of America certainly is it's a religious society the most religious society in the world.
Our people by 8789%.
Believe in god and believe that god does have a hand in their personal life.
The problem that we have is that our elites the people that are.
In charge of our institutions.
Running our government in the bureaucracies.
They themselves are not particularly religious.
They're much more secular.
England on the other hand is a terrible problem and that is they do not any longer identify religiously culturally.
Nationally out of this sense of guilt of having been accused of being colonial -- You're absolutely right -- let's go to you father Jonathan is is America still a robust society becoming more so all less so make that judgment -- -- -- I should say it's a pleasure to be on bound by a show with with -- and with due to economic arguments -- -- -- -- -- but reverend if you ask the question Andy Sullivan.
-- -- -- You know I think.
Most people who were falling away from spirituality United States fallen -- from traditional mainline Protestant traditions as well from the Catholic Church.
In a recent study that was done -- it shows that 70% of -- -- 70% have just drifted away yes your people with serious concerns about different their religious groups people who say I don't like the -- picture.
Catholic church's teaching on this.
And strong and -- lead but most have drifted away what does that mean it means is a great opportunity to reach out in new ways in to connect with them.
Under way that is going to mean something for their daily lives and that's what people need all right same question to both you -- Our spiritual.
Principles this intense belief.
Is it still look the hearts of most people who -- Jewish in America.
The Jewish community as divided as everyone does know there is a segment of the Jewish community that's extremely liberal.
Very secular.
They identify ethnically as as Jewish people.
But they're not.
Heavily involved in -- today religious activity.
But there are segments of course I come from the orthodox community there are many other traditional people.
Two which god on a daily basis is very personal are very important you.
-- you'll society getting less robustly.
Religious almost so which is there are more religious -- -- sense of ritual.
-- -- -- -- -- But what America needs is not so much the practice of ritual but is the belief and -- Judeo Christian moral system.
Because policy our government our destiny is tied to a specific.
Moral Judeo Christian outlook on life within the Catholic charge off.
Religious principles spirituality still intends amongst those people into what you might one of the largest portions of those who call themselves -- one or another.
Affiliation comes religion are ex Catholics former Catholics.
Those certainly have lost.
That spiritual living I would say.
But the good news is that's.
The good news is that's.
Most people that I find who have drifted away -- I said are looking for something.
And just -- economy bring out when which has contracted with this dip recession and post recession people are finding new ways.
It took to make a living I believe people are gonna -- -- new ways of living their -- so you don't think that -- atheist challenge amounts to very much because it is -- -- no -- atheist challenge doesn't it doesn't it makes a difference is I don't what you embrace the name and voice of god from the public square.
-- the chance to be -- and also from the conscience of the individual.
But eventually.
We turn around because given natural law within us that looks forward -- -- a great meaning rabbi are atheist making inroads into the Jewish community.
That -- -- who within the Jewish community are already atheist they're not making inroads.
Among those who do believe but the inroads that atheists are making and it is in our general society and through the courts they're trying to make it impossible for us to.
Publicly express.
Are we -- -- believes and they don't want this society.
To be guided by the moral belief that guided us in the past.
