If you bar behavior let's get -- -- David he's got a debate this should be fun I've been looking forward -- this for literally weeks construction of the Chevy Volt.

Maybe on temporary hiatus for the plug in electric vehicle managed to post its best sales month ever.

In March when it sold nearly 2300.

Carts.

So is -- finally light at the end of the tunnel for the long struggling vehicle joining me again I'm very proud -- Jean Jennings.

Editor in chief of automobile magazine and -- -- columnist for AOL autos these two ladies know more about cars and anybody I've ever met and I'm not exaggerate war.

More doesn't this mean that the volt has now turned the corner the fact they sold 2000 cars.

Why do you remember in January we had -- the house oversight committee came through -- with buyers which obviously that was totally did defused it was not true.

And -- sales are now continuing again when gas prices go up.

People that are looking in the car market that I'm -- buy cars get better fuel economy so this may be short lived bounce we don't know if we'll what do you think.

I think that the price of gas drops now -- and go back to buying suvs.

Just that they have traditionally aren't what do you think about that I don't think the price against is gonna go bad bets are down I mean nothing Lawrence sentence in Iraq that's absolutely true.

It's the same reason.

You -- cars are selling so well right now with the price of gas goes up people to trade in their cars and get better fuel economy -- -- you know the last time I had you wanna talk about the the last you questioned and that you didn't really know the answer right maybe nobody does which is.

Without the subsidies without the tax credits without the subtle pressure from the white house with the -- be alive right.

Now well how she how can you know that -- answer the reality is.

This is the first year of a brand new technology in one year it's been out and debt and that.

When a new technology comes out as I said then.

That the demand for it -- home at the same time it comes out otherwise.

People are ready fortress -- -- -- is low or they're looking for it and no one's.

May also bud -- and you wore a little more skeptical about the -- you have been over the past couple years we've known each other.

Do you think that perhaps people -- have lost their skepticism.

That even if the gas price doesn't go down significantly.

They will they will stay with a -- now that they've tried it.

You know as a lot of cars that are that get just -- -- fuel economy not bad -- -- around 26000 dollars so if you're looking at a car and I have to say the bull does look very cool and is a lot of great technology and it.

But you can buy a Prius that's that's gets for 20000 dollars you can buy a Ford Fusion hybrid.

They did just -- good fuel economy or just disappoint aborted afforded the doubled -- 41000 -- but you do get that tax credit right over even -- pretty either way with the the bottom line is it comes down to figuring out your dollars and cents and it costs a lot more to have -- if you look at the full line of luxury hybrids the real high end.

The high end Lexus and BMW's they're not selling.

So -- isn't that price point of problems for both still solving -- problem and apps and let me just say that she heavy cells the highest powered fuel economy in the United States I mean.

It has a cruise vehicle that's their superstar.

This is a halo vehicle its new technology and it's not just about fuel economy.

It's not just about feel like is -- performing the way the Chevy says it should perform are there are there any.

-- the baseline those that are unhappy with what.

-- a lot of buyers are happy with it but there are some -- did leave when they had the opportunity -- to get out of that when you were buying back a few congress not many.

The people that only current law of the cars they're absolutely totally in love like a collector car person -- But for the most part the plug in part people are really into that plug in just it's just hasn't taken not.

When you can get a hybrid they I don't have to plug into and if you live here in Manhattan where you gonna plug it and you know go to work and your little plug -- they're not -- -- them.

The reality is zero emissions is the only answer when we're looking at China and India coming on stream.

-- using up very finite resources.

Zero emissions and hydrogen is the answer this is only a stop -- anyway so if you're just talking about fuel economy economy Lawrence absolutely -- You know it doesn't make financial sense it's something else and you're gonna mix it up a lot more than you have -- little -- I guess maybe -- the problem I should next time I won't be in the middle.

OK all there aren't enough of us are there there is clear that's not really -- until -- -- -- women and.

R&D folks I try I try we're gonna say Jean Jennings Lauren fix thank you ladies good to have you both the pleasure --
