Is the report that employers have now been asking prospective employees to hand over not only the -- a lot in.

But also their FaceBook passwords they can go in and look at the prospective employees information.

Including that -- the employer or employee rather has made private so what can you do to protect your privacy in this kind of a situation we have Jennifer jolly here technological.

Technology rather lifestyle editor of red second dot com and and Jennifer indeed on the right refused to give out your -- -- employees asked for a absolutely you have the right to refuse -- got -- your prospective job.

Potentially it might just like when -- an employer says hey we're gonna run us.

Background check on you or we want you to submit to a drug test.

If you say no that's going to raise a red -- for your employer so yeah you can say no.

-- -- probably shouldn't so what kind of limits -- on the -- and -- here in this case on the employee it's obvious that.

You don't want to say no because we don't want to jeopardize your chances of getting the job particularly.

In this market but what are their limits on the employers' side to this what's the downside.

Well I'm not limits right now you know -- came up in front of the house yesterday and the house voted hate to let the employer continued today around it with your social media and ask for your passwords that they want.

This is the checking of social media is not new there's company called social intelligence that some employers.

Our hiring to go back as far as seven years and look at everything that you put out on the Internet.

So this is really that if you've gone to college lately and and you have pictures doing keg stands and that last that last on the Internet.

A lot longer than you think -- employers are looking at that.

Now what we say that people should do is -- Don't use FaceBook and Twitter -- now -- interest don't use that as your personal diary you cannot assume.

That things on the Internet our personal anymore you just can't assume that if you wanna keep a private.

Keep -- journal under lock and key under your bed at home.

Or you can have two different FaceBook accounts one can be the one that you give away the password to prospective employer to know.

The other can be the one that you actually -- with your friends and family.

And the third issue comes up -- Diana now does that.

It really infringes on the privacy of people your friends went as well so it doesn't for the company up to some issues of discrimination and of free speech so -- it's not really cut and dried situation and I was gonna -- About that -- that point nondiscrimination into the argument that keeps coming up is that the employers are at risk if they start doing this.

Being sued for discrimination how much -- -- a lawsuit like that hold.

-- you know I'm not sure I'm not a lawyer what I do know it as somebody -- gone through this process looking for a job I've also.

I've been on the other side of the than hiring people me.

Is that nobody wants to go through a lawsuit it's time.

It's money just the threat of a lawsuit makes both sides feel pretty awful and you you can rest assured that's not a great way to start a job.

So obviously going into this wild west of the of the Internet and of this day -- -- -- what's really private and what's not.

They're do you need to be some boundaries and rules set up now FaceBook has come out and said hey will make sure that you don't have to give away your password.

Well we need to see you know FaceBook has been guilty of giving away our private information even selling our private information before.

So can FaceBook cannot protect us here I'm not sure fun haven't there should be.

Will be about the other part of this which is even if -- not the person giving out your password a lot of people.

Have profile that early visible to some people -- you know certain photos are only available to some people.

Now one of those people doesn't give their passwords and there -- a prospective boss -- you have that random person you don't know.

Looking -- all these -- that you think only your friends can see so is there any plans to remedy that issue or what can people do to protect themselves on that and the only thing that you can do to protect yourself on that and.

Is -- it might happen and again keep.

Private things.

Private you know we do sort of have this feeling now.

That we can do whatever we want on the Internet and we can decide when his private or not and is -- is we want got and that would be great.

It's not.

Reality it's and I -- way of thinking what you put out on the Internet is not.

Private it just isn't -- hopefully someday it will be we're looking at maybe you've been paid.

For that privacy but right now it's not -- you wanna keep a private.

Don't put it on the Internet and --
