The Republicans play games -- this.
-- even though there's these concerns in Nebraska what's kind of forget about them was just play politics and I think the American people understand who do you trust more on your energy future.
Somebody who believes that we have to do everything we can hear in a safe and responsible way on oil and gas but someone who also believes in diversifying.
New forms of energy.
Senior White House advisor David -- on FOX News Sunday defending the president's rejection of the keystone XL pipeline.
Joining me now senator John -- and republic about North Dakota.
Behind the senate effort to approve the Keystone Pipeline general but also a member of the senate committee on energy and natural resources.
Great to have you with us David -- -- thinks that the president is by far the more interesting.
Intriguing candidate when it comes to energy policy after all it's done what -- you -- Let's just not credible -- -- -- the Keystone Pipeline which is exactly what the president's doing.
And then go trying to take credit for the southern leg which is only portion he cannot block parties say we're gonna -- all of the above.
And then not only do you not do you prevent us from doing all -- the above were trying to develop not only are traditional sources of energy.
What are renewal bulls and the president -- -- regulatory burden doing things like blocking the keystone.
-- denying access both onshore and offshore for growing he's preventing us from producing more energy more jobs and bringing down gas.
Prices what he says it's a republicans' fault -- that pipeline -- I Keystone Pipeline wasn't.
Advanced by the administration says that you guys.
Who did it.
Not at all we -- a bipartisan.
Bill that we put forward we have -- eleven Democrats support -- we got 56 votes 56 votes.
In the senate a clear majority actually at 58 because we're missing two members.
And the president started calling Democrats.
Or we might have -- over sixty votes.
Then he goes out and has a press conference saying he's four the only portion of the keys on the can go forward without his approval -- time.
That is just not -- I'm not affect the word -- uses its bizarre.
Well I don't know is it any more bizarre than the president in Cushing Oklahoma.
As saying basically that unum drilling isn't going to be enough by itself to bring prices down.
Saying that he is expediting may -- the southern leg of the XL pipeline from -- to the gulf.
The sounded so reasonable.
Yeah now we produce our oil and gas resources that we work with Canada to -- there as we get our natural gas going.
And do more with other forms of energy we can produce as much as -- consumed and it's.
It's that effort.
That's gonna bring down gasoline prices we need to do it.
The American people see through this Lou there's no question about it and that's why the president's.
Popularity it is falling.
And as you just have of vote in the senate I believe the vote was and -- 93 to advance the bill.
Four afford debate.
-- give us the import of that maneuver today.
Exactly because we want to talk about energy we want to talk about gas prices we not only want to talk about it.
We want to put the solutions in place that will help bring down prices at the pump.
Now this bill is a -- about raising taxes on energy companies that's the wrong thing to do but by going to the bill.
Eliminating -- so called subsidies I neglected to mention a part of it.
Limiting what the Democrats call subsidies and know what you Republicans Carl raising taxes.
Well what you raise taxes you get less energy you get less gasoline at the pump and it cost more.
But what we want to do is talk about the real solutions -- things we've just gone through here in this discussion.
So we don't support the underlying bill and we won't but let's get on to the things it can make a difference like infrastructure.
Like access onshore and offshore like streamlining the permitting process reducing the regulatory burden.
These are the things that will bring down the price of gasoline at the pump because of more supply create jobs and more and more security now.
Here's a country here's one -- I hope it does happen in that debate which -- -- -- if you're looking forward to.
I hope you all talk honestly about the fact that right now the -- oil industry is exporting gasoline right now and diesel.
And that we have that.
Demand in this country is at a fifteen.
Year low with high supply.
There's got to be real honesty real direction from both sides about what's going on here.
And I hope that'll happen and I know senator that -- be amongst the first to make sure that the record is clear and complete.
Senator Rick we appreciate you being here look forward to -- -- over the course of the next few weeks as you roll and I advance the interest of truth justice and the American way down there.
Looks forward to the discussion thanks Lou but it's --
