Well sales of Etch A Sketch toys are booming and it's manufacturer's stock prices also.
It comes after Mitt Romney's aid compared the campaign to the popular toy stock on the day huge jump in the stock yesterday.
Now rob me try and dig his way out of the mess right now but the maker of the -- to -- working on a marketing campaign to capture the renewed excitement.
For this classic toy Larry yeah on residents -- out of Ohio art company joins me now for an exclusive interview.
Larry when he did did -- keep up the excitement.
I just hope that we can keep it going till November 1 no we get into the selling season.
This is just an amazing all the year all the attention it to sketch is getting in.
Has been a lot of fund where we're having a great time.
-- brought and and that's -- sketch from the past out -- -- stars and stripes and we think we might have something do or around the campaign this summer with this and and we're -- bring that.
You know maybe it just -- can -- -- forces with people and then we can get people to register to vote.
And really be become part of the campaign dialogue as we go into the November election.
Larry I have to ask you what are your suppliers telling you I mean I know that our -- yesterday -- Fox Business had to run all over mid town Manhattan just to get an Etch A Sketch.
A toy that I had when I was a child so that tells you how long this has been around.
What about your suppliers what a buyer customers are they are do you have a guests on standbys somewhere.
Well we've always carry Plavix is -- is an inventory at this time of year we we carry less than normal.
But we we've been talking with customers like Toys 'R' Us and Amazon.
You know we went from the fifteenth.
15100 best selling -- and Amazon to 51.
A best selling toy and Amazon and in one day which which is -- incredible.
And then Toys 'R' Us has seen a significant increase in their volume.
You must all -- over the same story and in Manhattan their flagship store on.
You heard -- downtown.
Because that's -- just sold out the other day.
And we've got an order period to get them back in stock but.
You know it's not hundreds of thousands of pieces it's the people or just -- we're we're keeping the flow going and -- that's what we do with our customers -- We flow or goods to them and then we have the -- -- the support.
You never changed the Etch A Sketch of the spend the same toy for all these decades.
Well you know I started out with the Coca-Cola company and marketing and when I first came in 1978 you know I wanted to change everything on it to -- And I took allotted drawings out my started showing at the mothers and mother said.
You know we'd love this don't change it you know we don't need new and improved -- sketch it's reliable it last forever.
And they really convinced me that that instead of you're coming in in trying to change everything.
That I really needed to be part of of managing an icon of of them -- them the American toy industry.
And the so we you know we we could make appropriate changes but we don't make radical changes.
