Bold steps to try to make their tablets.
Look different from the iPad which has been a problem for all the other tablet makers to try to.
Differentiate get some traction.
They brought out a Teva last year with -- Eckstein.
Industrial design that I liked and a lot of the other reviewers liked.
This this one is more radical this is it.
Unfortunately this is -- charged -- he can't see the screen but.
It opens up like this there's a small screen here a small screen here but there's this big change in the middle yeah -- And so some apps.
-- very about forty gaps out of the hundreds of thousands that it can run.
Have been either written by Sony Europe altered by -- so that they take intelligent and -- -- issue get your messages and.
Email here and then the email your reading is -- here and that makes some sense.
But a lot of other -- go completely across the two screens like your browser which is pretty important.
Google Maps and then a lot of things that just -- out there on the android market and they all have this big.
Hinge cutting right across the middle of them and I just think that's a non starter practically since -- -- cost 550 dollars.
Well right it looks cool when it's folded up that's when you open it up that they that the problems starting -- -- -- -- ask -- -- kind of a different question because.
You know a lot about all these devices you review all of them and the iPad really is the king of the tablets -- talking about it last week what advice would you give to a company that wanted to launch.
The tablet because sometimes in business in the sister in any business when a competitors so far ahead you just try to be different for the sake of being different and that doesn't always work.
Well outlook I don't give business advice but I think as in most things in life whether it's.
Television or or I don't know accounting or whatever measure doing.
You have to have focus shift to make a decision about what is your focus going to be.
What is your what is your core competence going to be that might separate you from other people it could be price you could have a much lower price than the market leader.
It could be.
Some service issue -- -- that that are different look than what the market leader has.
It could be a strikingly different design and.
But I think you have to focus on and whatever it is and make it really work well refuse say.
Two screens is a good idea.
You've got to really.
Ask yourself.
Can we did that without some big disadvantage.
Like that -- thing and there are other disadvantaged in this.
As well.
And speaking of those -- -- they've got to look at that king.
Of all tablets as you called aipac and his and they review.
The price it's 550 dollars poultry memory -- -- the battery life was weak it's not all of the LTV.
Fourteen network it's -- when I speaker I go on.
But you can't have that many things that fall short compared to the primary competitor.
-- you know I actually agree with you and I think it's true in any industry not just act -- not just.
Tablets.
We it's it's true in in any thing so you've you've got to put together a package.
That is compelling and in this case because there is somebody so far ahead.
It's gotta be different and look a good example is the Kindle fire.
Which is -- only.
Other -- I know of that's that's gain any traction it's it's far behind me at -- but it's.
But it's got -- you know it's got some millions of people who bought it.
And -- what they did was to completely jumping android interface put -- on her face on it uses up.
Front end to their massive.
I Amazon contents stuff in charge 199 foreign and make it in a smaller size which does appeal to some people so.
They've made it distinctive and different and their people who still would prefer the iPad but.
There's another group that says hey I like the Kindle fire in their reasons.
To go for absolutely people reasons.
Yup and price could be one if you do it if you make a good product out Walt as always your great winning at its Carson them for coming on -- or spoiled after us and how.
A serious talk DC -- -- after this -- -- hearing -- thank you so much involved lots -- on the Wall Street Journal I thought.
