My next guest is sounding the alarm against the president's new budget he says that attacks the heart of our Second Amendment right.
Joining us now is Chris Cox did you executive director of the national rifle association's.
Institute for -- legislative action.
That means he's the NRA's chief -- and it's great to have you with -- Chris.
Thanks for -- -- the idea that a budget contains a tax on the Second Amendment.
That sounds like -- -- like quite an insidious.
Strategy on the part of any administration.
Well -- it's not surprising you've covered this story on fast and furious in the growing scandal.
-- the Obama administration.
Forced the illegal sale of over 2000 guns directly to the Mexican drug cartels.
We now have a lot of innocent Mexicans who've been murdered and a lot of innocent Americans have been murdered including -- federal law enforcement officer.
The United States senate looked at it and actually agreed for change and voted 98920.
To stop this dangerous program from ever happening again.
The president said I don't care in his budget does just the opposite.
It's just another reflection on what we've been saying all along.
That throughout this president's career he's tried to dismantle the Second Amendment now he's trying to use our taxpayer dollar should do it and we're gonna fight in every step of the way.
Give us a couple of examples.
Of what is in that budget that would directly affect.
A citizen's right to bear arms.
Sure will we -- we worked hard with Republicans and Democrats to include some protections in last year's budget.
We included a prohibition on the government -- using taxpayer dollars to actually go out and lobby for more gun control the president wants to do that.
He went over in.
Took away the protection offer to purchase spent ammunition at excess brass from the military to try to lower the cost of ammunition -- he's gone and across the board and every opportunity the arm -- -- And it's it's not eleven we've had arm pilots and our cockpit.
To protect is god forbid there's another hijacking.
The president -- and and guided that program apparently they ran out of guns for pilots because they sent him all the Mexican drug cartels.
But this is just an example of what this president's budget does.
Well the president.
He has to understand that the violent crime rate in this country is going down a what is the case for gun control at this point.
We're right the gun ownership has gone through the roof violent crimes and a forty year low.
But that doesn't stop where the president -- and where his supporters -- -- what they believe.
This is a president Weathers the state legislator the United States senator or the president United States who just doesn't get it live he doesn't understand the Second Amendment.
He doesn't respect the Second Amendment this is the guy who referred to us as bitter and clinging to our guns and religion.
And that this is an outrage American people should be outraged and we're gonna make sure they know the truth.
Those are two pretty good things to hang on -- -- -- myself but absolutely that.
-- let me ask you this I mean.
Of these -- Republicans which does the NRA feel most comfortable with in supporting the Second Amendment and and the right of the citizen do.
Defend himself or herself.
Lou the truth is any of these candidates would be a lot better than this president he spent his entire career trying to dismantle the Second Amendment so we take any album over this -- Uptick sort -- all for force were ripping on our I appreciate it Chris thanks for being here we appreciate Chris.
