Done -- do you -- here with us right now vice president small business -- Staples outs.
In as at -- headquarters in Framingham Massachusetts John thanks for being with us.
I don't -- and you talk to small business owners all the time is is that would be need another tax credit.
Well when we talk to small business customers.
A couple things first of all one of things they told us is seven out of ten -- they were very optimistic about the future so that's a good thing I think we're very excited about that.
One of the things that he came out rather loud and clear as we are talking to them was that they felt like they really needed a way to increase demand for their own business.
That was one of the things that as we talked to them they say boy if I had more money.
I would invest in marketing that would be my number one thing we need to get more people in the door buying then I will feel comfortable hiring additional resource is.
That was really the impetus behind why we actually created.
This give your business -- push it needs marketing campaign to give -- that needed exposure.
So it's not a little bit about it and that's of the campaign is right the Clinton didn't give your mom business -- needs.
What is that bush.
So that -- is really a way to help small businesses market themselves.
What they do want -- to -- is going Staples -- site FaceBook dot com back slash Staples that is our FaceBook page and you could enter into the contest.
That's any small business can submit a 152 video about -- small business what they do why their unique.
And then they can offer the -- for their customers their friends their family to vote.
I'm giving -- sell some exposure on line which we know that small businesses are.
Using more social media particularly as their budgets get cut.
But also five small businesses will actually win the contest and they're gonna get 50000 dollars.
TV media and be part of a Staples commercial and their local market.
That's pretty darn call.
Now we have we think -- what's it what's interesting to me is that you know part of your survey said that 66% of the marketing advertising budget.
That means you know little over thirty something do not in that because it's just.
It's one of those things where you know what I gotta pay the bills I got -- pay for supplies and unfortunately I have no money left to market and advertise.
That's that's exactly what it is I think you know as you as a small businesses triage is their own cash flow.
They need to make sure that they're covering their key expense is first.
And that's why I believe that when we ask that question about how would you invest.
Or use another say 101000 dollars they're number one answer was actually I would put that into marketing.
Because again.
If they can get their business growing and that has kind of you know a ripple effect they'll be able to hire more employees and then the economy can start to take off again.
Have fun and interesting because a lot of people will say there's no need to pay for marketing these days with the web in social media.
And all that out there but really it's still not enough is it.
Now I mean companies always need to market.
That's one of the things that we see is just absolutely critical whether you're a small business and big business you need to get your name out there in your message out there more improperly.
And why you're different.
And that's one of the reasons we actually like the idea of having the online video piece -- it is it's really the true small business owner.
That is in that video saying when it was great about their business and why we should vote for a number of you know -- anybody should vote for them.
And then at the end of the day.
To be able to take that and actually combine it with the Staples commercial and -- -- and their local market we believe could have a big impact for that small business.
